2:20 Unfortunately this is incorrect. The collection items for the new Italian commander will be obtainable only from event containers, not from your daily containers you earn through gaining xp. Unfortunately free to pay games spend almost all their design effort into dirty psychological tricks to entice payers to spend max $$$$. And that leaves a very bad taste in my mouth even tough the base game is just fun enough that I return now and then. A fair payment model would be a subscription that only charges you for the days that you actualy play.

3:40 Halsey and Yamamoto were obtained through campaigns, not collections. Dunkirk has been the only captain to my knowledge that's been available through a collection.

Yeah 175k coal is a bit too much. I mean, he's a great commander but like you say. It's almost a ship and obviously a T9 Premium for example is a better deal. But at the same time if you really enjoy the RU battleships or Cruisers it's a big loss to not have him. So kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I have to agree with that but at the same time I want to add something xD. Formerly you could pick up the ships, commanders at this event but somehow since this year it's not that easy anymore. You have to do exactly that and take each daily, or even buy a few prem-containers, otherwise you will not get the commander (for example, this Frenchman). I did everything but in the end I still lacked so many emplems that I did not get it. Maybe I missed something, but that's how they started in WOT. That you have to pay even at these marathon events (in continuous play), at the end. Of course THEY say that you will eventually get a discount (stage 7 - 70% but on an "extra" expensive package ~ 60-70 €? I do not remember that exactly). At the same time I have to say that I already have the JB, Missouri (free-exp) Musashi (coal) and a few others and I still only play a few hours 1-2 or less, depending on how fast I get the two daily - containers (without premium playtime) (before doing 3-daily-container, with premiumtime).

Honestly I wish I could enjoy the game more, unfortunately top tier is an HE spam hell because of the ships WG is adding. It’s practically impossible to play something like BBs and have fun because you’ll just get burned down before you can be effective.

You're not wrong, Notser. I don't get to play a lot and even if I do 3x containers of "resources" and get them everyday, most of the time they are only 400 coal each. that's 1200 a day. If that's all I can achieve as a "mediocre" player, that's 145 days of saving coal just to get the commander. That's 5 months of daily chests and only picking coal. god forbid you need flags or coins or... ? Call it 4 .5 months because you *might* get lucky with an event that you happen to catch and do well in where you get a 10k coal reward or something.

If you do all 3 containers, guarantee you're averaging 2,000 coal plus daily. The mission gives you 200 x 2. The containers frequently give 2 x 400 coal. That's 14,000 coal a week. Example, I got Smolensk 3 days after it came out and it took me to just above 0 coal. I'm now sitting on 148,000 coal and making progress towards Thunderer... yes, a super container pumped that number up a bit. But the fact remains, you can accrue a lot of coal in a short time.

Don't know if it's better or worse, but you could be buying a commander in WOWS: legends (console version...) for 900K commander XP. The catch is that the offered commanders (lvl 1) are not unique ones like PC version, but are available (via RNG) in the 1 earnable per week, or for purchase via gold, commander crates in the in-game store. It doesn't help that you have to make a choice to either save up the commander XP to do this, or to use the XP to actually level up the commanders you have. I do play both PC and console, but more time goes to PC due to access to the TV.

Your statement was incorrect in regards to the Halsey and Yamamoto commanders. Those commanders are obtainable without purchasing or utilizing any form of currency in games. You unlock those Commanders by completing missions with certain stipulation like in game achievements, in certain tiers and ship classes. That made obtaining the Commanders introduce skill and a bit of RNG into the mix vs just grinding and or paying to get it

175k coal is absurd, totally agree with you the. But actually Yamamoto and Halsey aren’t available through the collections, they are the final reward of their campaigns. They require a lot of work, but you don’t have to spend a resource like coal for them. And I’m not sure about the possibility to get the Italian collection pieces on your standard daily containers, which would make him time gated again.

It used to be very rare and only occur when you're right next to an island and it can't process fast enough (at one point the shells that flew through actually did damage) but now it's like every shell that hits the island still visually flies through Like wtf it is so confusing

I have that commander and he was not easy to get. Great commander which i have on my vlad he has saved me more times then i remember with his little rocket he fires when your hp drops under 10% hp. Maybe offer him for coal, doubloons and real money to please everyone but he should definitely not be an easy obtain or cheap. Yes i think the coal amount may be a little high but I wouldnt want him given away cheaply after what i went through to get him either. Works both ways.

I definetly wont pay 175,000 for a commander. I dont have all the coal ships yet so why would I pay that much for a commander? I just wish Wargaming would be fair. Things like this and the Benham grind just turn away players from the game. WG's approach to the game is rather questionable at times.

It's 175.000 I agree with you and the commander himself isn't that strong as people claim. His "idiot" proof skill triggers at 10% HP left and heals at a slow rate so you'll die 9/10 times anyway when it triggers and doesn't work in Clanwars. Get the unique Commanders, (35000 coal or 1500 dublons) instead as they offer the same improved Captianskills as Kusnezow

But saying pump the captain skills to 15 points WTF I don't even have 15 on that captain yet from what they gave us and I ad a lil Elite xp to that captain when ever I can so then that's gonna BS to the players that worked to get that captain. They give out coal like its its water and you can collect a couple or few thousand almost every day never mind the directives and other type of containers that hold it

I spent 4 month to have 177k coal to buy georgia with 25% coupon. It was painful bcs u can only have 3 daily container and only 400 to 1200 coal per container ( 3x 400 coal, 2x 400 coal, 1x 400 coal) so if u only got 1x 400 coal per container, u only got 1200 coal per day -,-

The price is insane but that's not even the main issue, in mu opinion at least. The main problem is the limited time you have to obtain any of those commanders (or many other things in WOWs) and if you miss it just because... well.. you have a life besides WOWs... then you probably won't get another chance in obtaining it. I guess WG wants players to spend EACH day playing the game but I'm happy that doesn't work for most people who have lives. The best and the most fair way would be to have such rewards as legendary commanders behind collections. You would have enough time to obtain them and even if you miss them you could later get the containers with collection items by buying containers with coal, getting another chance a year after the initial launch of the collections etc. Many other reasonable ways but seems like WG is always choosing the most retarded one which players either grind desperately or just skip it. Either way not enjoying the game while doing it. It's no surprise many players are leaving the game. Repetitive directives and events... insane prices for any rewards... RNG lootboxes... that's a way of killing the game.

It would take you just doing combat missions & playing the game picking resource containers as your daily reward 3 months just to get the needed 175k coal. Yamamoto & Halsey in the campaigns were 15 points captains so that much coal for a 10 pointer ? no way WG not a chance.If WG want to make a quick buck why not offer containers with just bucket loads of commander xp or better yet offer those 19 point captains that the CC's use & can put on any ship of any nation for the price of a tier 6 or 7 ship. Pretty sure plenty of people would buy those.

YES, I am now allowed to give a half years grind of coal, because I was not able to collect all the french tokens (due to work and not wanting to spend money on the french conatiners). Thank you WG I am sooo grateful for that, but silly me will pas on that. Stupid me can crunch some numbers and think that with working in real live instead of grinding coal I can buy roughly 10 plus new major A games. Now lets see...... I think all commanders should have permanent campaigns, like Halsey and Yamamoto. A campaign for legendary commanders means that: 1) they are always available to anyone, anytime, even if it’s a year or two down the road. 2) you only have to invest time, not an expensive/limited resource. 3) it matches the other legendary commanders in game, so they can be treated equally. If I had 175,000 coal I would save up for the Thunderer. I don’t, because I wanted the Smolensk before it went the way of the Belfast or Kamikaze. So now with no coal it is going to be a long time before I can afford a the Russian Legendary Commander because I had a long vacation during the event and wasn’t able to complete it in time. I hate time sensitive events in games, WG needs to stop doing them.

The Russian commander was anything but free for the average player since you were still going to have to fork over a bunch of cash for containers or ships to be able to complete all of the missions in time. I gave up when I finished everything and was still damn near 30% away from the goal.

Also then I should be able to get the Missouri then cause I just started the game maybe a month before the MO disappeared so why should I be punished? I should be able to get it so I can make Millions of credits like everyone else that has it cause I didn't have time to work on getting it and it wasn't being sold in the premium shop or any other way besides Free XP so it basically comes down to that same thing you snooze you lose. if you look at it 175000 coal assuming you get 3 containers a day with 400 coal it would take almost 146 days, Sure you could do it quicker if you get better drops but its not worth the effort. Lets face it the game sucks now and it is in its death rolls unless they start to change things and submarines are not the answer.

Although a better solution might be to give him a more reasonable cost and instead compensate the ones who unlocked him there. Like, give those who already have him 100k coal then sell him for 50k or something. Maybe also give event unlockers another copy, Jack Doe style.

But it was fairly trivial to unlock the russian dude. It took a bit of time, stretched over weeks, but was just around 1 hour a day. It isn't the french commander only 25% of people were able to unlock without throwing money.
