Pua Reveals A Hidden MURDER That Happened In Moana… | Deluxe Disney
Disney has always thrived at bringing their characters’ animal companions to the forefront of the adventure, from Rapunzel’s chameleon Pascal to Cinderella’s friend Gus Gus and the other mice. But one animal that seemed to draw the short straw and only got minimal screentime toward the beginning of the movie was Moana’s pet pig Pua. A lot of fans were disappointed that Pua didn’t play a larger role in the movie, but after digging around online it looks like there are a few fan theories that coincide with each other and explain the real reason why Pua didn’t go along with Moana on her journey. Be warned, it might be hard to watch a couple of scenes from the movie after this.

He's definitely real and just too scared to go on a long journey in the ocean with her. My cat follows me everywhere unless i leave the house. And they definitely wouldn't eat him because she favored him to live.

i agree after the first boating accident with moana where pua almost died he ran away from the paddle very fast after the accident.... and probably reason he didn't age was because he was full grown though out the movie and just be pig take at least 2 yrs to full grown didn't see the pig until she has the encounter with the ocean she was when they sing where you are she was a bit older when we see the pig when she tries to take a boat

My theory: The pig was just left behind on the island, probably because Moana didn't want to bring her pet on the dangerous journey like most people would do. IDK why people try so hard to make these theories instead of just thinking about the common sense of reality. The pig just stayed behind. I mean, Moana was surprised Hay-hay was even there. People make things more complicated than it should be. All of these theories have too many holes in them. But, just common sense of leaving a beloved pet behind while you go on a journey that could end your life, there's no holes in that. Pixar is great for magic and wonder, but that doesn't always mean everything in it is magical or mysterious. Some things can just be common sense and reality. Not every explanation needs to be answered with long-shot theories filled with dark or magical reasons.

He was moana’s fathers spirit guardian. That is why the ocean would not permit her passage with him. She needed her own guardian which was hei hei

Pua being someone else's spirit animal is one I didn't think of, but it definitely sounds more likely than the theories in the video. My idea was that he just wasn't there when she left, cause pua was on the ships at the end with hei hei on his head.

The only reason this could be at all plausible, is the fact he never grew up, he was a piglet for all of her life. But, it is Disney and when it comes to animals, certain things just need to be accepted (like why an African elephant baby was given to an Asian elephant mama in Dumbo, how dogs understand how to be pickpockets in Oliver and company, parrots are smart, but Iago was a bit extreme, etc.)

I always that he was a symbol of her soul, that was torn between doing what she wanted to do and what peaple expected of her. When she left he stayed to keep an eye on the island and the reason he is in the last song is because it was the two halfs reuniting. Disney has showen that this kind of thing can happen to their characters, you will know what I'm talking about if you have played Dreamlight Valley.

I believe that her mom may have actually held him back from going with her. Knowing it would upset her if he passed away during the journey. While she was gone the village would not eaten him either knowing the princess favored and adored him. That would explain why he was not there during the journey but appeared at the end when she returned. I also know that the scene when she almost drowns i could not see if Pua was with her or not but for all we know he washed up before since she got her foot caught. He then ran to go find someone and ended up finding her grandma. That would also explain the fact that her grandma was there and even looked at Moana's foot. Another explanation for why she is the only one seen interacting with the pig is the pig might not have been comfortable interacting with anyone besides his best friend and owner.

Im sorry but this is kinda weird.. my theory is that after what happened to pua the first time they crossed the reef, he was scared to go again bc he feared that they would get hurt again.. also if you noticed after the reef incident pua got scared after seeing the paddle. So thats my theory.

Nah she wanna felt guilty, And I definitely think it's plausible that she ate pua. I think it might be in New Guinea, Not a 100% sure but there is an island to where in this village the main source of food that people raise are from pigs. But these pigs are very important to the people's village. So much so that if a piglet is having trouble feeding, Breastfeeding women will breastfeed the piglet along with their own babies. Raise them take very good care of them and then eat them when it's time. The concept of pet is different for different cultures. And when it comes down to it they're meat And taste good.

Why would Moana choose a pig as an imaginary friend? There were no other pigs around. People create imaginary friends from what they know. No other pigs, no reason to choose a pig as an imaginary friend. It shows the pig on the beach after the failure to look for fish. This is the most likely reason for any confusion. The writers and artists added the pig to the posters because he or she was supposed to be a big part of the story, but because of budget cuts, his/her role was cut down. They didn't remove the pig completely because they spent money on the posters. In the real world? Money is God. It is the only thing that matters to human beings. Everything else is an afterthought.
