I always am sad about the fact I have so few friends and no boyfriend yet. I always think its because I'm ugly and have no fashion sense... so i can relate...

From an older college woman, other people can really suck. Boys can really suck. They can be good and fun but some will break your heart unintentionally and others intentionally. I felt the same way growing up. I’m telling you, full honesty that college is sooo much better than high school and that crap. College is where I finally got real friends, met my best friend, had a few boyfriends but if I could do it over, I would focus less on getting a boyfriend to feel validated and more time focusing on me and my friends. People aren’t perfect but if you constantly talk down to yourself, you’ll never see yourself as beautiful and it doesn’t matter what others say because you can’t see it. I know one thing that has helped my confidence is doing my hair for me, dressing for me, doing makeup for me. It’s hard to remember that you’re beautiful sometimes. Each week write down in a list what you like about yourself, it can be anything. It helps.

I know college has given me the confident to wear neon eyeshadow, full on e-girl grunge outfit, and dye my hair. You got remember to do stuff for you. Don’t get new clothes to look like someone or look like something for someone else. It’s for you. Wear what makes you feel beautiful. If you exude “I’m hot af and I know it” energy and you have the right people around you, you’re Golden. Hangout with people who build you up vs tear you down. Also in college, take people up on SAFE opportunities. Someone wants to spur of the moment go to Starbucks with you, GO! Get out there. Don’t do anything that’s not safe or crazy like spur of the moment drinking. I have a little sister so don’t mind me looking out for you

In my high school years I never felt like the ugly friend but I had friends that felt like that. I am going to give the same advice as I did who felt ugly. Love yourself! Stop thinking of everything that you don't like about yourself and look for what you do like. If you don't know then ask the person who knows you because they are with you for a good reason and that's because you are beautiful to them. We are the worst critics about ourself. We are our worst critics! Why is it that it takes a stranger for us to listen to what everyone we know tells us about our looks? Even in our adult life we are still the same.
