Public Accounting | First Year Accountant | What will you do? AUDITOR ADVICE

What's going on everyone, I am an auditor in a big firm in NYC, I wanted to show you what you might be doing as a first year accountant. I will be speaking mainly on what auditors do at a public accounting firm. In this KZbin video i will be speaking about:

All of the tips and tricks I am showing you will be helpful in your career (in my personal opinion). These are some things that i did in order to stay ahead of the game and be recognized by my superiors.
Please remember that all of the things i mention are my personal experience, and in your firm you might encounter different responsibilities, which is okay. Remember to always learn from your managers, supervisors, and seniors, because they will be the ones teaching you for the most part.
Being an auditor in a public accounting firm is not easy, it comes with a lot of work and definitely a lot of responsibilities. Make sure you also continue to study for your CPA exam and get that out of the way as soon as possible.

How does one get a 6 figure salary in accounting cuz im halfway through my degree and thinking of switching to computer science just for money alone

It’s all about staying in the profession for a while. After 3 years in public accounting you should*** be able to get the 6 figures. Make sure you work hard and are a top contender every year for the best bonuses and best salary increases. I’ve heard great things about computer science so both are amazing careers. I think I’ve heard of better opportunities in computer science though, but please research as much as you can. Sometimes the money isn’t worth the job you’re doing!

If you went the taxation route in your master Program, can you go do an audit job for a starter and then move into tax?

I’m sure you can but you might as well do tax first if that’s what your interests are. If you’re looking to learn both then yeah you can do that, you’ll just be starting over though once you make the switch since we don’t perform the same objectives

Linda misread your question there. Im assuming you’re still in college? If so, most internships came through interviews directly received through my college. You definitely have to apply to a lot of different places, thats what helped people get an internship. Its a little tougher now since the pandemic, but just make sure you apply to every firm you can find so you can get in the door
