Whos really good or evil in this world anyway? The world isnt black and white. Priests and pastors are supposed to be moral compasses, but a lot of them are embezzlers and molesters. MLK Jr. was an orgiast. A criminal wrongfully or rightfully jailed probably just wanted to provide food for someone.

"He has this song 'Rise' which I used to show my clients all the time when I was starting an assertiveness training with them. I'd put on Johny Rotten's 'Rise', and the line in there is 'Anger is an Energy', and he's got these unbelievably intense eyes... He could channel that like almost no one I've ever seen. He'd get that anger built up inside him, and then it was completely under control. And he expressed it in his music. It was absolutely captivating. Unbelievably charismatic. I really liked his music. Raw anger." - JBP

When John Lydon was seven years old, he contracted spinal meningitis which put him in hospital for a year, left him in a coma that totally wiped his memory and damaged his vision, leaving him with his trademark stare. When he was well enough to go home, the doctor told his parents that he should not be allowed to relax or become lethargic and that they should constantly annoy him and make him angry all the time. When they questioned the reasoning behind this advice, the doctor replied, "Anger is an energy."

well said, funny how many of those who stood against him back then love him now and claim they always have. There's a title for those people, I call them hypocrites. Rude and irreverent they called him, truthful and genuine, I'd say. Just look into his eyes during the lines "I could be right I could be wrong" He was always right, roflmao, he's just humble and clever enough to offer the possibility of an alternate opinion. So make your own minds up...arrogant or moral, anti-establishment or pro democracy? I love him now as much as back then in a Tom MacDonald vibe. I'd much rather they were schooling our kids than any politician you could name alive today, cos they'd learn morals good ethics, open-minded thought and decent values instead of greed, number one first and selfish "I'm all right Jack" doctrine.

I loved this song when it came out. I used to put it on the jukebox. My grandma was Irish and whenever we left hers she would always say " May the road rise and your enemies be far behind you." Something like that anyway. Along with that memory this song is one of the best anti-apartheid songs out there. I love John Lydon.
@pietzsche9 жыл бұрын
+michelle88960 In Irish 'may the road rise to meet you'= Go n-éirí an bóthar leat (Pronounced: guh- ny-ree on bo-her lat), Lydon's dad spoke Irish as his first language iirc, so that's probably where it comes from :)

wolfe tone She's passed away now, which is why I used the past tense. But yeah I am a bit Irish, and take after her a lot, she was funny a real character. 4 foot 10 and everybody was terrified of her! Not that everybody's terrified of me, (though they should be, I hide it well!) lol.

Great read isn't it? He does not dwell on the Sex Pistols and over 80% of the book is PIL. He's a prickly personality, he says what he thinks and you can't help but love him all th more for it. He slags off practically everyone but the bitterness doesn't seem too hateful, it just is what it is.

For what John did for England he should be Sir John Lydon. He should be knighted, looking back he is the pinnacle of one mans beleif to say what he wanted i love the guy FREEDOM OF SPEECH ....... FOS a god given right handed to man or should i say men like John England needed a wakeup from the posh up ur nose stigma and to show the world that England was in turmoil like the rest of the world at that stage....... Love You Mate

In documentary about Ginger Baker "Beware of Mister Baker" Lydon says: "This film is about Ginger Baker, a man who stands for something in life that probably most of you do NOT!" But that quote also applies to Lydon himself, he too is a man who stands for something in life that probably most of us do not.
