Chuck Toffey Or you could hunt for the reason it’s intended for, FOOD you can’t eat horns bud! It’s not about bragging rights all the time you know. Unseen branches 🤬. Had the same experience years ago on a doe...back end of the arrow caught a very small twig about 5 yards from target. The doe spun at the ‘tink’ sound & I ended up with a near perfect ‘Texas Heart Shot’. Bear razor head entered at 3 o’clock on the anus and exited 3rd rib from the back on the left side. Doe made a U-turn and piled up 25 yards from my stand. Made for a strange day & weird tale. Good vid! congrats to both of you. 👍🏻👍🏻

I've lived and hunted in Missouri my whole life from Northern Mo. Central Mo. and I know live in SE Mo. Just curious what county you were hunting in? I assume since you drove from Michigan that it was probably one of the northern counties? Down here where I live it's about an hour drive to Wappapello Lake and there are literally thousands of acres of Corp of Engineers ground around the lake, Mark Twain National forest, and lake management ground. Lot's of nice bucks killed down there and no antler point restrictions. Only thing is that in Wayne Co. which covers most of the public ground...........you can kill as many does as you want with a bow, but does are off the menu during rifle season. You can shoot 1 buck before rifle season or 1 after, but you are only allowed 2 bucks total during all portions of the deer hunting season. I used to have the luxury of passing on smaller bucks when I had my lease in Montgomery Co. but lost the lease to a "Pay to Hunt" operation about 15 years ago. Now I take what nature puts in front of me because the bottom line for me is putting meat in the freezer. Great job on the video.

I give you props for the video editing. You guys do a great job filming but here’s two things I don’t understand. 1) the second guy that shot a buck says he never even shot that bow until he shot the buck, how is that smart to do while shooting at a live animal. Any bow hunter knows that a bow can be quite a bit different from person to person to stay accurate. 2) why shoot two 1.5 year old deer? It doesn’t seem to make sense or even to be a challenging hunt. Why not let them grow up and become a possible booner?
@isaacchambers91272 жыл бұрын
Remember there are other hunters because it’s public land and someone else would shoot it as soon as they get the chance

@@isaacchambers9127 But 90+% of Missouri has a 4 point restriction.. meaning the buck has to have 4 points on one side of it's rack, to make it legal. Each "point" has to measure over 1" to be considered a point

Whats the best sitka for warmth for whitetail? Fanatic bibs/jacket or the stratus set? I have the full downpour set and the fanatic hoodie
@dylanklemas44165 жыл бұрын
Hey, I use Sitka gear and hunt in south eastern Pennsylvania (Chester county area) as well as up in the mountains. The fanatic system you can’t go wrong with and it’s very warm. The stratus system with like a heavy weight base layer for the pants and the fanatic hoody and Celsius midi under the stratus jacket would probably do the trick as well. You can even mix and match them and see what you like the best. I have the fanatic light system and with some layers that will get me into the end of October now with it being so warm lately. Check on Facebook there’s sometimes people selling their Sitka gear on pages. Hope this helps!

Nice video and great hunt. But, why would you drive 6 plus hours to hunt in an area you have never hunted before on public land that has more than enough pressure on it, The rut is winding down, and the weather is brutal with heavy snow and very cold temps, to shoot 2 scrub bucks. You guys are crazy. LOL! Things must be bad in Michigan. I have no problem with taking realistic deer on the hunt just not under these circumstances. You also had to deal with driving in bad weather and terrible roads. I thought my hunting buddy and myself were hardcore, but you guys are insane. What made you pick this piece of public land in Missouri. First off, you will never ever see deer, never mind 2 bucks out in the open like that on any given public ground in Maryland. Maybe early season but not that time of year with those weather conditions. Nice shooting also!
