Publix Shopping | Comparing Walmart prices | Orlando

On Tuesdays we go shopping. Let's go shopping in Orlando. After living here for just over 3 months I am trying to find which is the best supermarket and which is better value for money. Today we go to Publix which is my favourite and compare some prices to the Walmart website along the way. Which is cheaper????

Very interesting to see inside Publix…we don’t have them on the west coast. Back home in Scotland when the kids were little, we always used Rowntrees jelly. Once in California I could not find a Jello flavor that did not taste odd/fake so we abandoned “ jelly” as a desert. You could have knocked me down when I was at a “pot luck” lunch and someone had brought a jell-o salad and folks ate it with the meat. You will see boxes of Jello-O Pudding…. the closest we have is Angel Delight. When you hear “pudding” it refers to that ….not used as an alternate word to dessert. I have found that Jello cold vanilla flavor pudding is an acceptable substitute for Bird’s custard in a bowl of trifle. And yes, folks used paper plates for every day food…. no idea why other than saving on electricity and dishwasher tablets.

Yeh I’m not a lover of jelly anyway but Zara likes it so she has tried a few of the flavors but as for the pudding I don’t think we will be trying that, not our thing at all. Hi Katie, I've lived in Orlando most of my life. Welcome! KZbin suggested your channel, and it's fascinating seeing your perspective on things that seem so mundane to me. I recommend you take a trip to World Market if you're looking for international foods- youll definitely get a better price on your tea. You'd have a blast at Winter Garden Village where it's located- plenty of shops for you to discover. There's also the International Food Club near Universal Studios that has a massive selection. As for chocolate "jelly" it is Jell-o brand chocolate pudding. So it is pudding not jelly. Jell-o is a name brand, originally of fruit flavored gelatine (what Brits call jelly). The Jell-o brand branched out (in the 1970's I believe) and began selling their version of pudding mixes too. American pudding is like a thickened, flavored milk custard dessert. It is similar to Dutch pudding but much thicker. In America jelly is a preserve made by thickening fruit juice with pectin. While jam is whole fruit cooked down and thickened with their natural pectin. Jell-o brand gelatin is so ubiquitous that all flavored gelatine is just commonly called "jello" no matter the brand or if a generic.

We do that a lot in the UK too call something by a brand name regardless of the brand, makes sense!! I’m not sure I’ll be trying chocolate Jello anytime soon tho 😂 thanks for watching xx

@@KatiesfloridalifeYou should try it. It is nothing like "jelly" and more of a soft custard (but not eggy at all). And Americans wouldn't say "chocolate Jello". We would call it chocolate pudding. The Jell-o company calls it "Jell-o brand pudding" to differentiate it from standard Jell-o which is gelatin (jelly to Brits).

I love food hauls. It is so interesting to me to see how others shop and I get good meal planning ideas. I know food prices can vary by region but Publix seems very pricey to me. I do most of my shopping at Trader Joe's and Aldi but I also like to go to farmer's markets and local produce shops.

My favorite supermarket in Florida is Fresh Market. Excellent meat and fish section and lots of specialty items. The lighting is super cozy and they usually play classical music over the speakers. I believe they have one I Orlando

I loved publix when we visited. We bought loads of salads and fruit salads to eat as we struggled with the food a bit and eating out all the time 😂 portions too big and not used to the food. 😊

Publix is our go to for grocery shop.On our last trip.in may we found the new one at the end of world drive.We stay on property so don't really do a big shop, it's normally just fruit, h20 soft drinks , bread butter jam, milk and cereals and ofcourse cake. The only thing I buy in the British aisle is ribena, I like it hot and don't drink tea or coffee. I find publix much calmer and cleaner.Coming again in 2 weeks can't wait

Juat found you vlog. I've lived in the Orlando area for over 20 years now and still love it. It's great seeing it through your eyes. Regarding food shopping, I buy the bulk of my food (mainly regular staples) at Walmart. You save so much. But I do love Publix too. I use them for items that I can't find at Walmart and I always shop the Publix BOGO's. You can find the price of the crisps on the bag, usually the top right or top left. And, welcome to Orlando.

Just noticed your comparisons on JIF peanut butter were different ones. The one in Walmart was actually to the left of the one you filmed. Creamy not extra crunchy. This was a similar price to the Walmart one not the $2.50 extra it showed. Loving your VLOGS.

Publix will always be more expensive than Walmart or Aldi. Do yourself a favor and get the Rao’s pasta sauce at Sam’s Club - they sell a pack of 2 for $9 which is a much better deal. Great video Katie! 💕

You can order online and just pick it up...I'm talking about a sub Shopping the BOGO items are great as well The sale ad changes every week as well I think it is on Wednesday The item was Jello its a brand of products. The mashed potatoes in the package are surprisingly good. There is no sound for the last quarter of your vlog

We don't have a Publix here in Los Angeles but I have shopped n bargin compared n for me I'm a Walmart girl their prices are better their brand of most items are just as good as the expensive name brand but if you want a good Mac n cheese their Msrket place brand is the bomb creamy cheesy 😋. Plus its a one stop for pretty much everything u may need but slso i chuckle everytime you say JELLY its NOT that its JELL-O O O this is that jiggle fruit dessert 😂 😂 not what you put on toast or peanut butter n jelly sandwich. your so cute 😊 have magical day.
