I heard this piece for the first time in my 86 years of life this year at the Quartetto Indaco concert at the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo. It was performed as an encore. It was a small piece, only five or six minutes long, but listening to it for one or two minutes I couldn't help to be moved to tears. Whose and what work is it? A few days later, I emailed the Institute. They responded immediately and told me it was Giacomo Puccini's Crisantemi. Thanks to that, I was able to listen to the piece again on KZbin. A lot of thanks! This quartet was written by Puccini in one night in memory of his patron's sudden death. Listening to this piece, my two friends who died in quick succession this summer come to mind.

The only thing one can do after listening to this blissful but tragic music is to listen again.
