Chrysler had a hot system . My uncle had a 68 New Yorker & he kept a ceramic fuse/relay on hand... They're on the firewall of most mopars of that era... Those NYer's had power to spare & they rode like like a dream.. Like sitting on your sofa in your living room cruising at 80 mph...

My favorite Aunt had a 1965 Chrysler New Yorker 2dr hardtop Sport Yellow, black interior with bucket seats , family owned an upholstery shop , so it had a leopard print vinyl top , my dad owned a muffler shop , so she had dual exhaust with glasspaks. She would race anything and everything . She special ordered a 1973 Plymouth Sattlelite Sebring Plus , with a slapstick shifter so she could drag race it , at 66yrs old she had a red 1987 Iroc Z 5.7 ttops , that she raced every weekend at local east texas race tracks , she was always the crowd favorite at every track , I miss my Aunt Mary, she was one of a kind

I had a 68 New Yorker that was my wife’s grandparents in the early 79’s. Some differences were no chrome paneling on the lower sides of the body; tan interior that was a bear to keep clean and a Holley 4 barrel instead of the the Carter. The best mileage I ever saw was 15 mpg.

Brother in law bought an early 80s ford Fairmont i believe. 6k original miles in an old ladies garage. Thing was mint as mint could get. He's gets it cleaned up, fluids breaks etc. Maroon 4 door, bench front and back. We go to a car show and he doesn't feel like walking. He pays the 10 bucks and enters the car show, parks and we walk around. Beautiful cars, hot rods, classics, retro mods it's all there like any other show. Couple hours later he hears his name called at the stage. He won best in show. No shit. Judge says "we see a lot of cars at these shows. It was great to see an old school everyday grocery getter in such beautiful shape." I congratulate my brother in law and he says "she's a show winner!! Thats at least 3 grand extra on her resale value.!"

My folks had a green 68 New Yorker as a second car when I was in high school (1984). It had a high compression 440, which wasn't really happy on 1980s unleaded. We put in a half tank of AVgas one night and could beat almost any car in town with a 4400 pound 4 door New Yorker. It floated down the highway and had a heater that would almost melt the inside, even when it was below zero in northwest Kansas. Thanks for the memories! Keep up the good work!

I enjoyed you working on a really well preserved old barge. Just one thing: measuring plug wire resistance -- A low reading of ohms (or zero) means it's a really GOOD connector. You kept saying "on #6 I got nothing and #8 is reading no resistance." What you meant was you had no continuity. A bad or broken wire would have high or infinite resistance on the meter.

Puddin, do you know the hydrogen peroxide trick for cleaning valves? Pull the coil wire, then it's simply pouring some hydrogen peroxide down the carb, and letting it sit for 30 minutes, then crank it for 30 seconds. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then while cranking with the choke full on, slowly pour more hydrogen peroxide down the carb. That's using half of the bottle. Then hook up the coil wire and get it running, and while it's running, slowly pour the rest of the hydrogen peroxide down the carb. You would be amazed at how clean you can get the valves doing this.
