Sorry but as a historian I have to point out a error in your narrative. Cinco de Mayo is a commemoration of the defeat of the French army sent by Napoleon III to establish Maximilian as emperor. The French were defeated in the battle of Puebla but recovered and Maximilian indeed became emperor of Mexico until the monarchy was overturned and defeated by Benito Juarez. Cinco de Mayo celebrates the defeat of the most powerful army in the world at the time by an improvised, ragtag Mexican army. They won the battle but lost the war.😊

Hi Cindy, When we lived in Sacramento we were at 25ft above sea level. When we would go to Tahoe we would find it difficult to breathe if we were walking up an incline. Here in Mexico when we are at 7 or 8,000 ft above sea level it's not as hard to breathe. Paulette gets winded more easily then I do but it's not nearly as bad as when we were in Tahoe. Maybe the air here is thicker, i just don't know. My advice to you is to visit some places in higher elevations that you want to check out for a few days to see if the elevation is going to be ok for you. If not at least you tried it out. Puebla is fairly flat so that might help. As always thank you for your kind comment about our video. -Marc

About 25 years ago I lived in Puebla for a month while attending a language school. Really loved the city. Would love to see it again. The tunnels are facinating. You should read a bit about that library. It is one of the oldest in the Americas and has a lot of VERY old texts that were brought over from Spain when Spain invaded. I too have a lot of ambivalent feelings about zoos. Hopefully all that money goes to feeding the animals!

The library we really interesting, there were so many old texts there. It was a privilege to be able to see them. Zoo's were a lot of fun as a kid but now I just see animals in captivity. Puebla just got on my radar recently as a possible place to move to. I like it’s proximity to CDMX for international travel. How do you think it compares to Oaxaca?
@TheTwoTravelersInMexico
@TheTwoTravelersInMexico Жыл бұрын
Hi Lindylee, we like Puebla better. There were less panhandlers in Puebla more color, the streets in the centro area are beautiful. Oaxaca has its culture and amazing artisans and so does Puebla however the Oaxaca art is a little more diverse whereas the Puebla art mostly revolves around talavara. There are more expats living in Oaxaca then in Puebla if that's important to you. The prices of food, restaurants etc. seemed a little higher in Puebla. Let us know if you have any other questions. @TheTwoTravelersInMexico
@TheTwoTravelersInMexico 9 ай бұрын
It’s got all the conveniences that Mexico City has but it doesn’t feel like Mexico City. Mexico City U.S. a huge expansive place with lots to offer culturally Puebla is much smaller. Puebla I think is more culturally conservative then Mexico City. Both are amazing places but Mexico City has more to do but it’s also got the congestion and higher prices to go with it.
