Puebla truly is a hidden gem... I love balance between the historical aspects and how modern the city is. The food scene is outstanding and the people are very friendly. The weather is consistently moderate but it does rain a lot during rainy season.... and Im not talking about a normal rain.... it comes down in buckets!! I'm from Hawaii(so I know a bit about rain), live in the SF Bay Area and lived in Puebla (Lomas) for a year (2018-19). During my time in Mexico, I visited over 20 cities/towns with the intention of deciding if the place is meets what Im looking for to retire. A few definitely did but when factoring in cost of living, amenities, food scene, comforts I'm used to.... Puebla won over and over. The game plan is to retire as soon as possible and move back to Puebla!!!!! Love me some cemitas!!!

I'm mexican and I would prefer 10000x Puebla over San Miguel de Allende. The are many amazing cities that are treasures like Mérida, Puebla, Cuernavaca, etc... Puebla It is a jaw-dropping experience.

Try Tepic, Nayarit on West Coast. 2800-3000 ft elevation within 45 minutes of the beach - cooler up here. Smaller only about 450K population - about size of Albuquerque, N.M. Hotbed of Naturalist Medical Doctors and Naturalpathy and even Homeopathy. Far cheaper than GDL, Puebla, or CDMX and 80% less crime in my estimation. I have a friend that just moved up from the coast ( think New Orleans in the summer), as too hot for him. I drove him around as we have about 6 micro climates here. He was from San Francisco originally so after everything I showed him the Fracc. "Alaska". Named for the cool fog that hits that part of town first coming up the mountains from the beach every evening. Too cold for most but he absolutely fell in love with it and rented a studio Apt. there and loves it. No Gringo Gulch here, just a small list of Gringo and Canadian Mavericks, living amongst the very friendly Mexicans. We don't want a Gringo Gulch here - no Guayabitos crowd either. If you can't blend in, then DON'T come. We definitely don't want any Gringo Gulch here, neither the locals or us Gringos/Canadians. Cost of living is about 35-40% cheaper than in GDL. Lake Chapala area. About 1/3 of all adult males have lived/worked in USA - so very friendly, even one of our ex-Governors was an Illegal at one time. You must be able to give back on a daily basis. Gringos' first came here about 130 of them after WWII and we have a good reputation here and demand new comers keep up the good work. Peer pressure to keep it that way. People will come up to you and ask you to help them out with things like notices from Social Security from when they worked in the states. We expect you to stop take time out and help these strangers. Hundreds of Mexican have helped us out in some many unselfish ways in the past it's just "repaying Karma".

Oh my gosh what a coincidence. I just watched itchy boots KZbin channel and she’s traveling from South America to Alaska on a motorcycle. And today she stopped in Puebla. And I told my wife I think this is the most beautiful area that I have seen in Mexico. OK those Samita‘s look a lot like a tenderloin sandwich here in Indiana. You’re really making me want to find out more about this place. Itchy boots also drove by the blue house from the artist Frida Kahlo.

Living. retiring in Mexico is like my Dad used to describe "the good ole day's like first part of 1900's", except with modern appliances, conveniences and a really good Medical System. Plus Gringo's you feel like you have more "Freedom" NO WOKE Crap!, Women for the most part are still women and men are men. You should be discrete and stay out of Political Discussions - but 95% of the time they just laugh at you as 1.) You have no understanding of the complexity of the Political situations, 2.) They're so used to Gringos saying such dumb things, that they actually have old colloquial sayings about such. After first 6 months got rid of all "Big Pharma Meds", as life is slower and more congenial to "LIVING"!

Planning on exploring soon can't wait.

What a beautiful city! I love the historic architecture. The city really feels like it is in Europe. Speaking as a Canadian I think the most beautiful cities in North America are in Mexico. The scenery is breathtaking. That snow-capped mountain looks just like Mount Fuji! I suppose the only drawback is possibly the altitude and thin air although it does provide relief from the heat. I could deal with the 33 degree C in the summer - that is what we have in Toronto in the summer and the rest of the year with mild temperatures and no snow would be like heaven for me.

@@camouflageartist8897 If you don't like the Suburbs, Puebla has a lot of urban neighborhoods with street cafès, restaurants an bars. La Paz for instance has a very vibrant street called avenida Juárez, and has a lot of trendy Appartments.

@@ThePathbauer I'm not into apartment living, but American suburbs are deadly. It's sad to see Mexicans going for this dehumanizing lifestyle.
@ThePathbauer
@ThePathbauer Жыл бұрын
@@camouflageartist8897 you can also get houses on urban neighborhoods. But they're obviously a bit more expensive than apartments. Now, Puebla suburbs may look similar to American suburbs, but they have some key differences, they're more walkable, have more public spaces, public transport, are more dense and are closer to city cores. They're not perfect, but at least they don't sprawl as much as in the US

How is Puebla different from Guadalajara? Is the cost of living cheaper in Puebla? Is Puebla as nice of a place to live as Guadalajara?. Please respond back anyone!

The cost of living is very similar throughout Mexico with the exception of rentals and proximity to the downtown or Centro area. Guadalajara is probably slightly more expensive in terms of rentals but it is a much much larger city

Pls let me know, thanks!

Watching your video from London, UK. I enjoyed my only visit to Puebla. Yes, I was surprised there were musicians at the small place I went to had lunch, and they were very good. But my best memory was of the street market in Puebla, where the locals were so warm, friendly, inquisitive and funny. Happy people. Puebla, is wonderful, but I love the sea and fresh ocean air, so it's Merida, Campeche or Quintana Roo for me.
