Pueblo was once Colorado's 2nd city. Fueled by the local steel and mining industries, Pueblo became a melting pot of blue collar workers, farmers and even railroad and mining investors. Relaxed with time, Pueblo is still a major metropolitan area in the Front Range, but less expensive and quieter than other Colorado cities. Revival of their downtown area, and an abundance of outdoor recreation keep the Steel City relevant, growing larger and more popular every year!
Ski Lodge was created to publicly document our travels around Colorado. Started to simply get everyone out of the house, it has turned into a vast collection of history, photography and general information.

Born and raised Puebloan… Pueblo is like a capsule, it’s. Very unique place… in the 90’s there was a strong punk and indie scene there. We have unique places we use to hang out for fun, the chili fest is a must experience. Spent my younger years running from Pueblo, but now I love it, it’s my home. I hope to find my way back there ❤

I came across your video today and love that you do videos of places you visit. I hope that you all have an opportunity to come visit many more times because being a born and raised Puebloan, there are lots of gems throughout the city. I do feel ya on the homeless situation and I’ve heard they are all being bussed down here. It’s a serious issue that needs to be taken care of for sure. It’s sad to see in my beautiful home town. Pueblo is a blue collar down, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t make up for any misjudgments with incredible people, traditions, and always doing our best to improve our city. I went to Central High school. You all should come down for a bell game (usually first week or so of October)! It sells out quickly, so make sure to get your tickets if you come. It’s one of the oldest football canes this side of the Mississippi and the deep generations of family traditions definitely come out during bell week. The energy that the town embraces is so fun and inspiring. Come down to our chili & frijoles festival (usually 3rd week or so in September). Smelling the green chili roasting is on a whole other level. I usually volunteer each year. All tips during the event are given to a non-profit (such as to help the mission with the homeless possibly). All summer long we have the municipal band play concerts for free every Sunday at the amphitheater at Pueblo Community College. It’s fun to bring your pop up chair and sit there with your family outdoors and listen to the incredible music. I fave time to go is the week before the 4th of July when they play patriotic music. Oh there are many church festivals, baseball tournaments, baseball games at Runyon field for the kids, soccer games at Langoni field all spring and fall….we have a great YMCA and have you ever visited our award winning library? I can spend hours on the kids floor with my grandkids. There is so much to do. We have El Pueblo museum (the school kids get to go on field trips here) and our Children’s Museum is so fun! I love to take the kids and we lose ourselves for hours painting and playing. I love that our Sange de Cristo Arts Center has discount days and even offer 1/2 annual membership every Earth Day. Pueblo West…..that’s an entire community within a community. They have so many sports for the kids and different events for the public, like the amazing and fun huge 4th of July parade that you can join a huge and I mean huge water fight. They have a dry spectator and a dry participant section. You better watch out when the wet participants meet the wet participants. You can look up photos. It is so fun! Back in the day, the fire dept would then at the end do a huge mountain of bubbles that the kids and grown kids (adults) could get covered from head to toe in bubbles. So much fun. We have so many incredible organizations that raises funds to give back to our community! They do incredible things to make our town better. We also have so many wonderful churches in every faith and the communities are also incredible. Pueblo is a town full of deep roots and love and care for our hometown. Are there issues….sure, there are everywhere. I feel that each citizen should do their part in making their home what you want it to be. Make a difference and always do random acts of kindness. To clarify….i am not political at all, i hate politics and choose to love everyone and to do my best to treat everyone with kindness. I didn’t grow up with a silver spoon in my hand, in fact….I grew up in foster care. I lived in Denver and Springs for short periods. However, Pueblo is my home and I have been born and raised in Pueblo. There are amazing things about our hometown if you can just give it a try. (And yes, to the comment above….you were actually about a block or two from our Riverwalk playground that is right by the convention center). The Riverwalk has some find events but besides that, I love to meet up with friends for lunch down there, or take my grandkids for a walk and enjoy the sunshine on our faces. Thanks for sharing about Pueblo and other cities in Colorado. I can’t wait to see more videos. We Puebloans welcome you anytime!!!

Pueblo's character and things to do are always surprising, and the food is definitely second to none. Can't wait to return! Thanks for watching and taking the time to form this response

I commented on your Instagram post. Next time you're in town if you follow the riverwalk around it will lead to a kids play area. It's in between the PBR training facility and Brues Alehouse. I would agree with your sentiment about the homeless. For the most part if you're not involved with questionable people then generally you're safe. If you had time to drive out to Lake Pueblo or to Lake Isabel in the San Isabel National Forest you'd of had a scenic trip. By being a high desert you get the warmth and you actually get to view the Wet Mtns. There's definitely room for improvement, but also have some great additions happening. Holmes Hardware on Union opened in April as a foodhall, apartment complex. There are seven new housing developments going on in town. From affordable housing to high end. The southwest corner offers El Camino and Ventana both high end neighborhoods. Also on the southside is Aberdeen a high end neighborhood near Pueblo City Park. To the northwest is University Park near CSU-Pueblo. Both of those area have expansions currently happening. This as you head west to Pueblo you get more rural neighborhoods. Thanks for stopping by Pueblo.

Great video. I’ve only visited Pueblo once , despite living on the front range for 30 years. I is worth a visit. I particularly enjoyed the steel mill museum, the Pueblo History museum and the inside of the historic train station..also a number of antique trains are parked at the station. Restaurants along River walk are great for lunch.
