Puerto Cabezas: Largest City in Nicaragua’s Poorest Region!

Puerto Cabezas, a city on the very tip of the Northern Autonomous Region of Nicaragua, is a city that no tourists visit. Why? It's because this region of Nicaragua is known to be one of the roughest parts of the country, with limited transportation and no tourist infrastructure.
The city of Puerto Cabezas has one of the largest Miskito populations in the entire country. The Miskito are an indigenous group of people that lived in Nicaragua before the Spanish arrived.
When I arrived to this city, I realized how chaotic and crazy it was....exactly what I was looking for...

City of my birthplace. You do not say anything about the white English speaking white people. Have they all gone? It use to be the 3th largest port in Nicaragua, when I was born, and lots of people spoke English. Yes I know that I am old. Like your video. Ps I never spoke Spanish. Knew only 3 words in Spanish when I came to USA, in 1953. My family has been in the Caribbean area for about 400 years.

I had turtle soup once outside of free zone in colon panama in 1996 it cost $3.50 came with rice and beans plantain to me it tasted like sweet pork.

Those are turtle eggs. You eat them raw with a squeeze of lime. Like an oyster.

It was a great place in the early 1950 era. The United Fruit Co had quite an operation there with good jobs and wages. The fruit fly took care of that! Also a very large lumber business producing the Nicaraguan Pitch Pine, a rare and valued wood. Hope you get to see the nice sea cliffs and beaches,

It's a very tough life in Nicaragua. The KZbin videos you see don't show the day to day

If you can bring in minimum $500 USD month, you can live a pretty good life in Nicaragua

It is not as it depicts this type of living. For 50 years I have been going and coming. MARRIED to one from the coast has contributed to diverse experiences one has to acquire by oneself. Then there is the hygiene part. I am having difficulties to tolerate certain things which I shall not mention. I am writing this in Nicaragua

Maybe it’s just my opinion but you could be a bit more conscious when you’re there. You are definitely the loudest person on that very already loud street. And these people make nothing man as you already know. If you’re taking stuff from their stalls you could at least give them some pocket change

It’s Chile Cabro (Aka Goat Pepper) lol. Puerto Cabeza has changed a lot from the 50s to now. There weren’t as many Miskito people in the past. It was more diverse back in the day. There was less trash around and fewer people.

Rondon / Rundown is a stew lol it’s not Miskito it’s Caribbean. Afro Caribbean culture runs heavily on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua due to the importation of slaves -particularly Blue Fields. Puerto Cabeza as well, but there are more Miskitos near the coco river bordering Honduras above Puerto. They procreated more and established themselves more in Puerto Cabeza.
