PUERTO RICO: Sailing to Coffin Island ~ Isla Caja de Muertos, SV Acadian EP21

I grew up going to Coffin Island. It was always a treat to sail there from Ponce. It looked much different in the 70's and was busy. Hate it is not open to public anymore. Some of my best memories are on Coffin Island and Puerto Rico!!

@TammyWalker we enjoyed our time in Puerto Rico, loved the south coast. We'll be crossing from Curacao back to PR this November and we hope to visit Caja De Muertos again. there were lots of boats there in 2022.

Brave hike for a nice view. It's really cool seeing the boats sitting out in the water safely while you're away.

So my wife and I sailed to Coffin Island this year, we have started to make a blog post about it. However in doing our research for it. We are understanding it that it's illegal to go to the island and are worried to post pictures/content. What are your thoughts on all that? Or do you understand it differently? We had police boats come by every other day w/ no issues... So i'm not sure.

@GoofyBootsTravel not sure if something has changed but we had no issue with access to the island. there were lots of locals and many cruising boats visiting the island while we were there.

@@SVAcadian Well, if you research online it says it in a few places that it's "illegal" to go to the island since the DNR can't keep it up. But we had the same experience. Lots of locals, and many cursing boats. We have some great photos from the caves, and exploring the island. I just get worried about sharing those. Again, i'm not sure and would love to post them. Not sure if it's even enforced or if they care.
