I remember convincing my kindergarten teacher to play this for the class. I'm in eighth grade now and I still listen to it frequently. I never stopped 'playing pretend' and it helps greatly with my writing. Imagination has a purpose. Use it.

this made me cry because when i was nine i would hear this everyday i was obsessed with it i was bullied at that age alot but this song just cheered me up i would play alone with no friends...in recess but i would sing this song with my little dragon puff and now im here feeling better my sister played this song on her tablet and i tried remembering it so later that night i put the lyrics and i remembered but i also started to cry so many memories this song wouldnt let me down..i dont really care how old i am to listen to this song i still love it now i sing it again when im going for walks i love you puff the magic dragon i always will. this is coming from a boy just like in the story

I'll turn fifteen in a few days, and it makes me sad when I realize that I can't remember any of my childhood, or at least anything before twelve. I do remember that I had loved dragons for a long time, and that I used to listen to this song on a CD player before bed because I was scared of falling asleep and having nightmares. This is a great song that I remember hearing and singing as a kid, back when it first came out. It is a tale about growing up and putting away things from our childhood. It is about innocence lost. There's an old saying "The difference between men and boys is the price of their toys." I imagine Puff as either a plastic or a stuffed toy. As Jackie grew up, he lost interest in Puff because it was too childish. Puff was replaced with bicycles, then cars, then girls. But I like to imagine that Jackie had a boy of his own and dug Ol' Puff out his cave gave it to him. Puff never ages or dies, but humans do. A little sad. I have passed the song on to my grandchildren. That's my two cents.
