In regards to the Nano-Air Light Pants and jacket, you mentioned they were constructed with CoreLoft, which is Arc'teryx's proprietary synthetic insulation. The Nano-Air series, though tweaked here and there, is primarily FullRange synthetic insulation. Great video, thanks for taking the time to make it!

WHOOPS! You’re right. I may have been going down the Arc rabbit hole around the time of filming this video. No matter how many times I watch and edit, I can never seem to catch all the little errors. Thanks for keeping me honest!

Patagonia with arc'teryx insulation?🤔

Awesome video! I'm looking at ordering a pair of Montbell Tec Thermawrap pants and there is not alot of info out there. Use case will be static in camp/break @ 0*-20*F. How was sizing over baselayer/pants/shell? Order as normal?

Full length side zips are useful for pants made to be worn externally - which the ghost whisperer pants aren’t (they’re designed to be worn under an outer hard/soft shell layer)
@diwoodoesthings82888 ай бұрын
Yeah in their newer produt pages (for the mens version) they market these as a midlayer. However on the womens page and earleir iterations, they identify the Ghost Whisperer pants as a standalone or a midlayer. Great as a midlayer on the chairlift but not for skinning (like the product page states). I think they have a useful application for late fall backpacking around camp, or for COLD resort days.

should have asked to borrow the das pants! great video as always brother
@diwoodoesthings8288 Жыл бұрын
I should have! Maybe for another review. One thing I don't like about the DAS pants is there is no snap on the waist. This allows the zipper to come undone and the pants to sag. If Patagonia fixes that issue in the next iteration, I will likely buy a pair. Or buy a pair at a good price and MYOG it.

Love your videos, super thorough. wish you'd get more views but I get that some people don't like to spend an hour or two nerding out about gear. if you're looking for more views, could probably make a second channel with shorter-form videos but it's hard to set yourself apart with that.
@diwoodoesthings828811 ай бұрын
Playing the long game here. Long form content is hard to come by so that’s what I’m going for. Might make quick reviews as shorts at some point

Nice collection and review of the equipment. I was lacking pants in my collection since almost always i just use a merino expedition base layer + goretex pro bibs and be done with it xD But with time i added some similar insulating shorts from ortovox that i got for dirt cheap, shorts are very nice indeed for everything ski/snowboard related, and recently added a ECWCS Primaloft Level 7 GEN III pants, very nice, very cheap, resonable weight but not that warmth (they dont say but i estimate around 60 to 80 g/m2), probably gona use them for base camp for snowy stuffs.

I get super hot with anything but a super light polypro base layer, so full zip puffy pants are a must for me so I can take them on and off as needed. Especially for multi-day outings where there are extended periods of being static. They are also great for extending the temperature range of a sleep system.

Great video. Do you also have any recommendations for casual (somewhat) insulated pants? Seems like flannel/fleece lined 'regular' pants/chinos are a lot more common in North America than Europe.
@diwoodoesthings8288 Жыл бұрын
I'm afraid my knowledge of casual insulated pants is not as robust, however, I would recommend getting a pair of merino wool base layer bottoms to wear under your casual pants. This makes it possible to be warm no matter which pair of pants you are wearing and is very versatile. It can also be a lot cheaper to buy one pair of base layer bottoms than multiple pairs of insulated pants. I would recommend looking at Smartwool or Icebreaker for merino wool base layers. Hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for the review. Do you know the difference in fill weight between the MH Nilas and the Absolute Zero bibs? Or the difference is more towards the outer shell material (probably more deniers in the AZ).
@diwoodoesthings82882 ай бұрын
I do know the Absolute Zero has more fill weight than the Nilas bibs. But I don't know what the spread is. The face fabric is certainly tougher on the Absolute zero but also much heavier. If you are moving fast and light but require bottom insulation of this caliber, Nilas is the way to go. For regular expedition style movement, absolute zero will offer a bit more warmth and protection. But I think someone who runs warm could get away with using the Nilas bibs instead of the absolute zero.

im going skiing and its -15*C so plan to wear the ghost whisperer and a hardshell over. Afraid might be too hot though.
@diwoodoesthings828810 ай бұрын
If you’re moving around a lot or ski touring, you’ll be hot. If riding lifts, you should be okay, but if you run warm, a pair of heavy fleece base layers might work better

Sometimes I have to go as cold as -30 at my job. Do you recommend anything for trousers?
@diwoodoesthings82886 ай бұрын
Feathered friends Frontpoint or Volant pants would keep you warm. If you’re stationary, perhaps mountain hardwear absolute zero bibs. But these won’t be durable to abrasion the way work pants are if you’re doing anything labor intensive. Kuiu and Sitka also make hunting-focused pants for this

$275 for those Mountain Hardwear pants?!? My Goosefeet pants - custom made - have about 10x as much down as those and cost exactly the same.
@diwoodoesthings828810 ай бұрын
I would always encourage someone to buy from Ben at Goosefeet Gear. Awesome stuff. What features did you get?
