Hello, thank you for this video. It's exactly what I want to do with my POD HD 500X! Can you tell me a bit about how you set up the MIDI "lanes" in your DAW. I realize every daw is different. I have a trial version of Ableton Live 9 right now and cannot figure out how to duplicate your midi lanes. Thanks!

As explained starting at 7:47 when you send the control change values for the foot switches the value doesn't matter, anything from 0 to 127 causes the switch to toggle on and off. But isn't there a problem if you don't know the state of the HD500 when the first control change is sent? If during playback the foot switch being MIDI controlled was accidentally hit you would be out of sync. How can you prevent it from being out of sync? This is the problem I have run in to trying to control an HD500 with an Arduino MIDI project I'm working on. It would seem instead of controlling the foot switches you could control the effect that the foot switch is controlling. For example, enabling and disabling an effect like delay by sending some control change message where value 0 to 63 is off and 64 to 127 is on. I have tried implementing that but I don't think I have the correct control change numbers because the effects don't change.

A way to use the POD HD500 as a MIDI controller for use in Ableton Live, or other applications. This is not perfect by any stretch, let me know how to improve this... Note: You will need a MIDI interface, POD does not send MIDI information via USB.

Depends on the price difference to the new pedals. It's still a pretty solid machine. I'd buy it again if the price difference was significant to the newer models

No their guitarist uses a specific pedal for that but you can get the same effect by doing this
