Googly-Eye Fishing

Күн бұрын

Another fun and successful trip for Coho Salmon! This time we ventured north up to Jeff Head. We had some good action with the early morning bite, (including a double) and put a couple in the boat but lost a couple and missed on a few take-downs that just didn't stick. We stuck it out until the afternoon tide change, and when we found the fish they were more than willing to play! We had some troubles with a few more fish not sticking on take-downs, a couple of more lost fish, and then a bigger fish snapped a leader in half... I changed leaders out on both sides and over the next 10 or so minutes we had 3 more bites with all 3 fish coming to the boat ending with our 2nd double of the day... funny how that works! The Icy Orange / Glow Chartreuse Splatter Back Red Racer combo was the dominant setup of the day. Thank you for watching! -Eric & Katie

Nice JOB!! Ive never seen your ball retrievers before. Where did you get them?
@GooglyEyeFishing
@GooglyEyeFishing 3 ай бұрын
@@dawnirene72 I got them up on Vancouver Island, BC at Pacific Net & Twine. They are awesome. Stainless metal cleat, thick cord, stainless metal ring. I would go through several Scotty retrievers per season because the plastic cleats wear out and the yellow rings break, etc. These retrievers are awesome!

when does the coho season in the sound end for you? We have similar sized boats, so I was wondering what to do now that the coho bite has cooled off quite a bit in 11.

@@machewbacca there should be Coho out there for the next couple of weeks… there might not be as many fish, but the bigger “B” runners will be out there!

@@GooglyEyeFishing where would you recommend for this weekend? Redondo/PD or 10? Looks like based of the creel report 10 is still productive.

How many mile do you run ?
@GooglyEyeFishing

@@dylanpham6281 hi Dylan… Jeff head is pretty close to Shilshole, Alki, or even Edmonds… it’s not too long of a run at all to get out there where the fish usually are.

@@dylanpham6281 ahh… ok, so for me it’s not so much the speed, but the cable angle on my riggers. For me (in my boat at least), I am running 45°+ for chinook and probably 50°+ for coho. According to my electronics, this equates to a broad range of speed over ground (SOG). For chinook it can be as slow as 2mph and as fast as 3.5mph. For coho it’s 3.2mph minimum, up to almost 4mph. Most of this depends on current. I hope that helps you.

How deep were you fishing?
@GooglyEyeFishing
@GooglyEyeFishing 3 ай бұрын
@@ChrisEngrave in the morning was 60-90 on the wire, then the bite died. We waited it out to the afternoon tide change when the sun was high in the sky, and found the fish and bait at 100-125’, so I was 120-140’ on the wire then. We were fishing in 130-170’ of water.

@@miked5357 it just depends on light and cycle of the tide I guess… we have hit coho from 35’ to 135’ on the wire in 100’ to 600’ of water. 😃
