Cool system. I tried Unity and want to try UE5 because of the features it has and graphics, ability to create cool games. Right now I have ryzen 5800x, rtx 3060ti, 32gb ddr4 ram, 1tb gen3 ssd. It’s definitely enough to try EU5, but I am planning to build a new PC at Fall/Winter which will be used for gaming/programming/game dev/some video editing. I’m considering 5080/5090, 9800x3D, 64gb of ram, 2tb gen4 ssd. What do you think? Will it work great for EU5? Should I consider 96 or 128gb of ram like you?

I’m trying to decide between the RTX 4070 (12 GB VRAM) and the RX 7800 XT (16 GB VRAM) for game development and learning VFX in Unreal Engine 5 and Blender. I plan to create large, detailed environments (like islands and forests) and maybe use some light ray tracing, but I won’t heavily rely on it. Do you think the extra VRAM on the RX 7800 XT would be better for handling larger scenes, or would the RTX 4070 be a better choice overall for the features it offers?

I'm surprised he thinks AMD GPUs are fine for game dev. There are too many issues with it in regards to the Unreal Engine 5, and if you are a blender artist for example, the 7900xtx is slower than last gen's RTX 3060. That's even backed up by the Pugent System's review on those GPUs. I'd say that about 90-95% of game devs use Nvidia for the graphical work.

@@LucidStrike The problem is that high-end graphics also has much higher cost of development, and higher cost for the final user. @@deuswulf6193 That's interesting - since Unreal Engine 5 is very heavily focused on the current-gen consoles (PS5/XBOX Series X) which run on AMD CPU/GPUs. The founder of Unreal Engine itself (Tim Sweeney) is very impressed with the PS5's hardware/I/O systems too. That original "Nanite" demo running on PS5 was incredible I must say.
@deuswulf6193 Жыл бұрын
@@AJDOLDCHANNELARCHIVE I wouldn't say its heavily focused on the consoles, rather its designed to be multi-platform for export, while the actual development is PC based. That said, the ball is mostly in AMD's court rather than Epic's, at least for the most part. On the Unreal Development forums, its not uncommon for a developer in a thread involving AMD GPU issues to end up switching to Nvidia as the solution. Agree that Epic's advancements with both lumen and nanite meshes is impressive. When mixed with DLSS/FSR, it should provide some interesting visual benefits for lower end hardware as well as consoles.
@AJDOLDCHANNELARCHIVE Жыл бұрын
@@deuswulf6193 Yes of course - development isn't going to be done on a console with a controller and limited RAM/VRAM haha... Absolutely NVIDIA has the flagship performance in both consumer and "professional" grade graphics cards (though I'd argue that the 4090 and RX 7900XTX are professional grade cards themselves), and large video game studios are always going to choose the biggest and most powerful cards for the job. Plus NVIDIA has the advantage of the CUDA support vs AMD's OpenCL which I do wish was more optimised, even for selfish reasons as a musician/graphic designer/amateur game developer - NVIDIA is terrible in an audio production system because of its archaic cache scrubbing system which introduces huge DPC latency, yet AMD is not up to par concerning 3D rendering performance, After Effects VFX work etc... For me it's AMD as my focus is on real-time low latency performance and NVIDIA just doesn't work for my needs unfortunately.
