I'm so soooo happy to have found a very cool guy talking about jazzmaster as a real lover of them. I was so bored to see reviews of guys playing broken blues solos and criticizing the sound just because it's not the guitar sound they like (and it's ok, but stop saying it's sounds worst than a lespaul.. there is no comparaison). You know what you are talking about, your channel is the best place to learn more about our favorite guitar, the jazzmaster. Thank you !

It'd be super cool to see a review of the Troy Van Leeuwen JM in Oxblood. I purchased one myself back in August and i still have it in stock condition. Although, it sounds great as is, a video review with some tips on how to get one to sound and play better would be great!

I got a 2008 62’ reissue Jazzmaster for Christmas and good lord it’s just fanTASTIC. As a singer songwriter, it’s just perfect for everything I’ve written that’s more lowkey and clean, but it’s just as awesome when I get with my band and wanna throw some dirt on it and be a rock and roller. Never knew how much I’d love a Jazzmaster until I got one for myself 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻

I love your playing - it brings out the very best of what is possible with offset guitars - this video is no exception. Likewise I find your reviews to be balanced on the good, the bad, and always spot on! I had a blonde version of this guitar from brand new. Sold it. Regretted that. Found another one. There is something magical and sweet about the tones this particular Anniversary model gets, and your video captures it in the lead circuit, both pickups selected. Well done, Mike!

I got the Daphne Blue one, had a Mastery fitted straight away, thanks to you Mike. It has been my goto guitar from the day I got it. My Classic Player hasn’t been touched since I got it. I’ve never played a better neck. I got a 72 Thinline reissue in the late 80’s and never thought I’d play a better guitar for me. It has a beautiful slim neck and over the years I’ve owed or tried so many others guitars and not found one to match ... then I got “Blue”. I can’t recommend the 60th Anniversary model enough. Obviously I’d always say switch out for a Mastery. Gonna go off and gab a hammer ...

Another fun video - thanks! For those who can't get past Pau Ferro, there are KZbin vids out there on using Fiebings Dark Brown Leather Colors Dye on the fretboard. I gave it a go with decent results. Highly recommend double or triple painter's tape on the neck (sides, back) as the dye can bleed through the tape into lacquer-coated necks if you accidently get the dye on the tape. Added bonus for those who like the clay dot look (I wouldn't recommend on block inlays), the dye can give the dots the clay look (ymmv). Before applying, I carefully and lightly scuffed with sandpaper the dots before applying the dye. After a day of letting the dye dry, I applied some Jasco Boiled Linseed Oil to seal/protect the fretboards. End result is a darker, lovely fretboard. You may get some dye on your fingers for a bit. :P

I have been playing offsets since 92 and have owned multiple Jazzmasters, Jaguars, and Mustangs. I have owned a couple 60s Jazzmasters, which I really regret getting rid of. I bought both the Classic Players when those first came out in like 2008. And I bought the Daphne Blue 60th anniversary in 2018. After putting a mastery bridge and replacing the pickups with custom made Seymour Duncan JB and Jazz for Jazzmaster, this has become my favorite Jazzmaster I have ever owned. I actually dig the look of the Pau Farro with the Daphne blue. However, I think the lighter fret color on the black looks a little silly. Anyway, long story short, I totally agree with this dude. Great guitar for a great price.

I've got one of these in Daphne Blue! Loved it, but I did also get some mods done to address literally every issue you mentioned in this video hahaha. I installed an AVRI trem and an American Pro bridge (the American Pro bridge is the 9.5" radius mustang-style one, supposedly Fender was given a Staytrem bridge to copy for the Johnny Marr Jag and they put the resulting bridge on the American Pro Jags and Jazzmasters) I got a Duncan Quarter Pound bridge & Antiquity II neck installed, and had the whole thing shielded. I did like the original pickups quite a bit, so I had them put into my Squier Classic Vibe JM. Now I have the Classic Vibe for more vintage Jazzmaster tones, and the Anniversary one to get a more powerful, modern sound. The guitar was already an 8/10 for me when I originally got it and with the mods it is SO FANTASTIC

Great review as ever! I have a 60th Anniversary JM but it’s the triple. Quite a different beast (apart from the obvious 3 PUs). US made and equipped, nitro finish, rosewood board. Quite a vintage feel neck, decent bridge and vibrato tho I Staytrem’d it out with bridge and arm (being in the U.K.). Despite being both an offset and Gretsch fanatic it took me a while to warm to it. But it all happened when I raised the pickup heights a bit! I’d love to see what you make of one of these!

I think it's much better to change this bridge without the need of the lookit glue. Just bye a mustang brigde it cost only 25 to 30 and also buy a buz stop it will increase the angle the bridge behind it and with all this it makes no noise at all and stay stable always and do nit afect at all the sustain and the sound. Nice review 👍😉

LOVE the sizzle on the opening riff. Is that a combination of the Zvex Factory Fuzz and F#ck OD? Thank you for another video!!

Good review. Like my exact same JM, they did a bad job with the electronics however. They forgot to ground wire the pickups so had to do it myself. Put a mastery bridge on it.

I'm sorry to report that I have seen that on just about every new model Fender I've worked on! One in maybe ten or fifteen seems to be either missing a ground or it's not secured.

Interesting to hear. However the tremolo arm i secure on mine, maybe they did something to it in the store :)

So strange to me how pau ferro used to be a higher-class and more expensive material just a couple years ago- and now it's more common than rosewood on modern fenders

Mike, do you have a setup guide video for the standard vibrato? That would be rad.
