@@MarkPuke13 Well the job is done, that tailgate cover is a right pain to get off, and the hidden plastic clips up the top of that were a mare to get free, but the job is done, and for the first time in 3 years, i have a working boot that can be easily accessed for less than £20 and an hours time, thanks again for this video.

Good stuff! I'm currently replacing both the handle and tailgate for Kia Carens '05. The handle is quite similar, but all the rusted bolts in the surrounding panels have made the replacement process a lot more annoying!

Question I know you doing this to replace the tailgate(hatch) handle. For me I don’t think I need to replace the handle on mine. My tailgate and glass won’t lock at all. They do open with the handle but for some reason it will not lock with my alarm key or using the door handle lock to lock everything. I even tried using my key on the tailgate but still nothing. What do you think it can be ? Also I love all your videos. You helped me replace the window molding on the back sides.

👋 hi i think you need to change your LOCK ACCUATOR it might be the problem or check the connector to it. Try googling lock accuator i cant spell right now its early but Good luck and happy wrenching.

Hi from Minnesota I have a problem with my hatch on sportage 2009 I use to be able to open but now ut dosnt it's either the actuator or the handle how can u determine also how can u open hatch from the inside if need be

Re-do and recheck it if its locked in.. but if its closed and you cant open..im not so sure how youll be able yo do that without damaging or cutting open the door cover.. sorry.. But try checking online forums!! And good luck!

My back hatch is stuck closed. Do you know where the emergency trunk release is located on the inside of my 2007 Sportage

From what i know there is no truck release as the cable and actuator is on the truck hatch.. for you to open it you night have to pry the panel off and pull the latches to get it to unlock manually.. i dont really recommend as you might break your panel.. but if you're desperate and can find a replacement.. it can be done.. but forewarned its at your own risk.. and im just saying..dont blame me if anything bad happens.. but you can try looking up forums on how to? But again like in the video the back trunk like mine Is its own mechanism so there isnt a release for it in the car happy wrenching

21:45 Good information but I want to add two suggestions: 1. The license plate light bulbs are as old as the car, time to replace them while you have access to them 2. As soon as the new handles are installed, test them to see if they work, don't replace the inside panels before testing it

Bad news you might have to cut the cover to access the actuator and buy new stuff

@@MarkPuke13 I just did this job! I cut a hole in the liftgate panel near the actuator, stuck my hand in the hole, & unlocked it manually. Then I used your video to help me get the trim off when it was stuck on the wiper power connector. I was happy to see how you moved that rubber window trim, and the trim panel came right off. I replaced the actuator for $20 and it's working again. Now I am looking for a way to cover the access hole that I cut. I am thinking about a speaker grille cover.

when it wont open??? well.sadly..you might have to cut the cover for access to the door actuator latches and lock release... then go buy and new one or check junk shops.. try to find away around this..good luck

This is a very hard fix, this is for experienced people. You should give more warnings instead of talking like everything is easy. You leave out of the video the hardest parts of the fix, you just give a general recommendation and don’t show how to do it.
