Puking Goalie

It was a rough night for the goaltenders in a match played between the visiting Strathroy Rockets and the Sarnia Steeplejack Bees on October 30, 1999 at the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre.
Sarnia netminder Kevin Fines discovered that it was not a good idea to play hockey after having your wisdom teeth removed. Strathroy callup rookie goaltender Brad Topping, who would later star in the OHL, was forced from the game with a pulled hamstring.
The Rockets won the game 5-3.
Referee Steve Baker had a rough outing too when he clearly failed to see that Rocket Mike Legg (19) had scored in the first period.
Scoring for Strathroy were Mike Hooker (23), Jeff Campbell (15) shorthanded, Rob McFeeters (7) assisted by future NHLer Patrick O'Sullivan (4), then a 14-year-old rookie, Jason Davies (21) shorthanded and an empty netter by Jason Davies. Sebastien Matte earned the win in goal for the Rockets.

The goalie had his wisdom teeth taken out earlier in the day. Not a wise decision on his part to play that night.

I’m a tender, i’ve done that a couple times. Once I swallowed it all over and over during drills and once I directed into the back of the net during stoppage so play could resume. Good times great oldies.
