It's refreshing to see other students as clueless as I am when it's time to do the move. Blackout city.

Well I’ve been pulling guard wrong for ten years, literally how you demonstrated the wrong way to do it 😭😂. Awesome video

Here trying to learn a more comfortable way to pull guard, the foot to the hip and chair sit way has my lower lumbar area very sore. 41 year old white belt.

Question for you @kennan or whoever is behind this channel. When you do the turn on the foot that's stepping across, you're pulling before making contact with the foot. What is preventing the person on top from grabbing onto the pant leg and stepping over/jumping over? If you were to make contact with foot to hip, before pulling down, wouldn't that be more ideal and prevent someone from passing your guard so easily? Let me know what you think!
@fritzdagger3 жыл бұрын
The intial step is also a pull. It’s very difficult to time a leg grab and set up for a pass when they are in the middle of trying to regain their balance.

I appreciated the fact that a brown belt at Essential BJJ punished my bad pulls several times before explaining the proper way to pull guard. Now I know…

I love getting a really high uchi mata style collar grip and pulling guard in this turning motion then use my free leg to swing under to sweep. If they post with that free hand, triangles all day🤙

I did it the "wrong way" yesterday at my gym and felt pain in my left rib after landing on my back when my partner tried to move out of it. I suspect it was my poor technique on pulling guard and low and behold makes sense

My issue is that I fall way too heavy when pulling guard and kinda hurt my back

Hang off your opponent to slow the fall. Let them take your weight rather than "pull"
