Thank you for posting these videos. I have been looking for exactly this sort of in depth explanation of the mechanics for several years and putting off building a pedal steel because I thought it would require tools that I didn't have. I've wanted one for 15+ years and I'll never be able to buy one outright but I build lots of things so I started putting together info about 3 years ago. Until now I wasn't really sure if I would ever start to make an attempt, but I plan to order the build instructions from your website soon and get started if I can.

Great explanation and teaching video. I have a Stage One 3x4 Zum and it's a pull release pedal steel guitar. Holds tuning well and plays like butter. Sweet guitar.

Watched this a few times in the past. it inspired me to throw a barndoor hinge E drop lever on my guy, its crude but it works!

Is the "timing" the amount of throw any given lever or pedal has? so when pedal 1 needs to move 0.5" pedal 2 also needs to move 0.5" to achieve desired result?

To me it means for example if the B pedal moves strings 3 & 6 it is important that those fingers both start and stop at the same time even though the two fingers have a different amount of throw.

No the A&B pedals are tuned pedal up with the key heads and pedal down with the end plate pull rod tuning nuts.
