"My son gave me his "old" iPod about 6 months ago and I thought the Dictionary/Syllabus would be perfect for the iPod. I wasn't disappointed. You have a real gift for communicating the essential components of a tap step or technique." - Howard from the USA
"I purchased your Dictionary and I absolutely love it. It's such a perfect idea because it's concise, to the point, and very well organized. Being a teacher myself, I appreciate your step by step teaching method." - Maria from the USA

I just started my first year of intermediate tap, and I've been able to do single and double pullbacks from a flat foot, but the proper way from the ball taps only, eluded me. It wasn't until I saw you demonstrate keeping a flexed foot that it made sense to me. I was trying to jump high and kick behind me, causing my toes to point down and scrape the floor.

I want to say thank you for posting this video! After over 4 classes trying to get a pull back i found this video and i have it. I even have a switch (out, crossed, out.....) The thing about keeping ur toes flat and ankles relaxed helped alot.

Thanks! I've been trying to do this for six weeks. The lifted toe was key.

@musictaps ok, now that u say it took u 3 months i no longer feel frustrated on this one, been like 1 week trying pullback and double flap, they are the most tricky steps i seen until now in my 2 months of tapping xd later.

I have watched half a dozen videos and I have tried this step repeatedly, but no one explains the mechanics of how the ankle can be both the source of lift and then become loose to to strike the floor. with the toes. There is a missing element to the explanation that no one seems to provide.

You need experiment with the exact moment the ankles relax. Try relaxing them sooner to see if you have more success. Another approach is to think about your leg muscles doing the push off the floor while your ankles stay relatively loose. This is a step not usually mastered by a finely detailed understanding of the mechanics. Here's my advice: 1. Jump back further - much, much further. 95% of the time this will result in a student getting the sounds. 2. Relax your ankles even more, even sooner. 3. Do NOT scrunch up your toes inside your shoe at any point. Good luck and let me know if you get them.
