Back in the old days, if you run a scale, theyd make you go back to the scale, weigh you and then do a D.O.T. Inspection on you.lol Back in the 80s I run one in N.C. It was so foggy that you couldnt see the end of your hood hardly and that was before they put the electric open/closed lights in the signs. Thats what they ended up doing to me. Didnt have CDLs then. They were called class 5 licenses (at least thats what they called them in my state?) Thats a good looking truck. First time Ive seen one with the air splitter on the dash.

SOP...Call the court shown on the ticket ask for the name of a lawyer that does traffic violations in that court, call that lawyer let the lawyer do the work and just pay what's required. They just want your money not anything else. This should work in any of the states that demand any automatic fines etc.

I drove a gravel train before retiring. The scales around Pontiac Mich. on 75 were being rebuilt. I was out in the hammer lane when I saw sign come on. Everything was dug up on inside lane.No one would let me over. There were 6 chase cars. I took it to court in Oakland county. There had to be 300 drivers. Told us all pay$200 fine no points. Every single one did. Their was no scale there it was tore down. It was a money grab.

I 100% believe you. There's a small town here in Texas that was notorious all my childhood for how crooked they were, moving limit signs, writing bogus tickets, stopping random cars to hunt for violations and even illegally searching cars. They ended up losing their ability to patrol, and once it came out the mayor was in on it because they were all related, they lost their incorporation.

Back in about '78 I ran a scale about 2 a.m. out in the middle of nowhere. I honestly did not notice the open sign being flipped. I fan by it 5 nights a week and it was never open. Anyway, guy chased me down, brought me back, weighed me and did an inspection. I was over, plus had a few minor things wrong so the fine was like $150. There was no fine for running the scale but I got a good chewing out.
