Great interview and history, Absolutely love them 1456's! I bet if you ask Jeff he would tell you he preferred Red plows not those crappy JD plows...

Always love all these tractor story’s Ryan I know it’s a lot of work but I think you enjoy making them too! Personally I look forward listening to them when I’m reading “Red Power Magazine’s” and “Toy Farmer Magazine’s” on Saturday morning! 🚜📖

The first farm i worked on had a 2590 Case. That was the only cab tractor on the farm. It pulled a 720 IH plow and a 28 foot drag in the spring and chopped enough corn to fill a 20×60 silo in the fall. It only had a 1000 rpm pto so we didn't have any other use for it. The rest of the winter work like hauling manure and picking corn was done with two 4020s .

Those 2590s pulled like a homesick mule.

We used to go to Herman implement in wanamingo all the time. The dairy i worked bought every tractor there. 4020,4430,4440,4850 and 4255. 4430 was Bill's demonstration tractor.

Great video again Ryan .I just can't see how a farmer can just cold turkey just walk away from it all but i see it in our area too .As far as the equipment can you imagine a 2024 tractor of any brand being around in 50 yrs or anybody even caring about collecting or restoring the tractors that are new now
@RyanKelly-Wititan23 ай бұрын
I bet you will be surprised at what people collect. One of my all time favorite tractor series is the 2010 model John Deere 8Rs. Actually, I also want an 8530 sometime just to collect

It's amazing how many farmers have at least one old International but most of their equipment is green. There are reasons for that. 1) International went down the crapper steadily and many dealers disappeared and 2) the "other" dealer in town picked up the slack and the farmer(s) shifted to green as JD continued to improve (starting with the 4010 and 4020) Not in all cases of course.

My family had the Walker dairy farm 4.5 miles north of Grand Meadow Mn. Later 70’s we bought a new IH 986. Then had a fall in which it was too wet to do much plowing so we were looking for a new 2+2. I was around age 12 and I knew the 2+2 brochure like the back of my hand so did asked me, the youngest boy to call around to IH dealers looking for a new 2+2, and write down dealer, model, options and price. So I found 3 dealers in southeast Minnesota with 2+2’s. I did what my dad asked except one of the salesman was puzzled with a kid supposedly wasting his time looking for a 2+2 for his dad. He asked what farm and what town and I answered. He hadn’t heard my dad getting interviewed for various farm topic radio shows and didn’t know he was on the Minnesota Dairy Promotion Board,,,, not that that would have made him famous. There was a 3588 with differential lock and auxiliary fuel tank and probably a few more options. Then there was a 3388 with the auxiliary light kit and digital dashboard and it was the cheapest one at $33,000, the one we bought. The differential lock and auxiliary fuel tank would have been nice. Anyways I probably put 50 hours on it including running the pull type chopper. The Gehl forage wagons would break the floor chains if you filled them near the roof, front to back and my dad said I was better at controlling the filling than my other brothers. So when dad had a meeting to go to I was usually picked to run the chopper. Farm was sadly sold in 1981 after my parents divorced.

IH did make a 1066 Hydro sir.
@RyanKelly-Wititan23 ай бұрын
No shit, that's why I said they came out with the hydro 100, cause the hydro wouldn't pull with the gear drive. That's why I said it looked bad when a 4430 would out pull a 1066 hydro. It made all 1066s look weak, hence the marketing said hydro 70 and hydro 100.

I find it sorta sad a tractor that has been in the family for 2 generations is going on the block, amazing none of the kids have grandkids that would be interested in keeping great grandpaps and grandpaps tractor. I watch these in spurts since my time this time of year is short, but I just ground feed with my 1456 acouple days ago, even though I got mine well used long after it was built, I would have trouble letting go of it, alot of good stories associated with it, even though honestly now I could probably use something different more than it.

I'm all green except my 856 will get to retire when I retire. The 56 series are special. When you watch the rest, you will hear what he says about it finding a new home, pretty cool
