We were fortunate enough to get 2 ocean front lots in 73 I believe it was. my father that is. I was 3-4 at the time. Anyhow, built a relatively small & simple designed house at 1010 S.shore drive. A square house on stilts. The older ones are built closer to the water. We lost plenty of stairs & decks & got messed up pretty bad when hurricane Fran made a direct hit in the early 90s I believe it was. Good memories. Sold it around 2010-2011.Was a rental most of the year & it was getting upside down (in the red or close last few years)between the cost of insurance & upkeep it was time to sell or build bigger & better.parents had died,my sister the oldest of 4 was handling most or all of the $ part & had 3 children/didn’t want to do it anymore. All I remember is calling Thomas Realty anytime I felt like it & if it wasn’t rented, booking weeks at the time around October & any other time I wanted. Me & 2nd oldest my brother John & our friends would go over there & party & fish like crazy. Big flounder + anything else you can think of ,right out the back door. We could sit on the couches & watch tide, any storms that might be forming on or off the coast, barometer,a ribbon-wind indicator I tied on a giant piece of bamboo that I brought from around my house in the Sandhills.Carthage NC 28327(5 miles from Pinhurst #2 if your a golf person)lashed a45-50 ft bamboo pole to the underside of my 1999 Honda Civic DX hatch back (small little car.8-9 ft long..maybe.?.?)left around 11-midnight to hit shift change for the hwy patrol & got to Wilmington area 3-6 am ,before dawn.Got lucky. Didn’t get pulled but did get a funny look & a head shake from a patrolman pulling out of a store with a cup of coffee. Did have some red tied to the front & back end of pole. Maybe it was legal.?.DK. The pole with a loong ribbon was the best wind indicator on the island that I knew of. But even before thatbambo pole,we always had a ribbon or flag or something to watch the wind. Things could change on a dime & we were ready & waiting for them to turn on or any bait blowing up, bird activity, anything & everything + fishing a lot day& night no matter the conditions or tide. Fished through inlets a lot too. Mainly 45 minutes before & after slack tide. Terrific memories. Kept log books for a few years. They ultimately didn’t mean much. You can’t catch them from the couch is a fishing saying we used/use .can’t remember if we heard someone say it or made it up ourselves. I in fact did catch some blues from the couch one day. Put a minnow on a fish finder rig with a heavy weight and brought my rod inside. Raining, sunburn, legs tiered.can’t remember. Think I might have just wanted to debunk that saying. Anyhow…I checked out that pier online. Haven’t been there In a good while.Looks like it’s new & in the area there used to be a mostly or completely broken down pier .there was a big brown building with giant guitar & banjo made of plywood on the South facing side of the building. Pretty sure it was the pier house/restaurant/party place with live music at some point maybe? I stopped watching your video when you put the keeper with cut tail back. Going to get back to it. Are you a local ?know that building with giant instruments on it?there was remnants of a few old piers in that area .could barely see evidence of the older ones at extremely low tides .one spot had something that looked like chunks of old asphalt road or something .fished those spots on the way to N end & on the way back South. Went there sometimes without going to the inlet. Was & probably is still great fishing. Lmk if you are local pls. & I heard something about “you can’t use cut bait in NC” from a guy I know that drinks too much, talks about fishing way more than he actually fishes. Hear anything remotely like that? I rarely fished from the piers. Maybe it was a pier rule he heard about at 1 pier that was wanting to sell their bait.?.Dk. Have fun.

Great video. I’m going to Myrtle beach last week of 11/30/22 to 12/3/22. I’m from NJ. Can you meet up at Springmaid pier?

@@CarolinaShoreFishing I can go to NC, I don’t really have a set destination. Just going south to fish for a week. I just want to fish different areas.
