I think it's just intresting to know that the original Greek is much older than Dick Dale's version (that i find good enough also even if i prefer the various Greek versions) and the lyrics are about a Greek in love with an exotic "Misirlou" (Egyptian woman, as they were called in Ottomans period) promising to "steal" her from the Muslims - for the first recording (the song is actually much older Greek folk oriental rebetiko style) search -in Greek-: "Μισιρλου Δημητριαδης". Greetings from Greece

Not a surf song.. The original is a classical greek song from 1927. The Dick Dale version is very close to the original. This kind of music is called "rebetiko". This is the greek blues.

@eimaiokalyteros he didnt steal it because he didnt rename it to a shitty name like "pump it" and add lyrics. he left it as Misirlou like the original composer intended it to be. He at least changed it more than just adding lyrics in, he uses a guitar. see, the black eyed peas took this same song, they didnt use real instruments to play it, they might as well have simply got the same record and just sung over it. cause thats close to what they did with their "pump it" version
