Of course Rohmer was a complete hack! Shameless, really. But his stuff works somehow.

I find these books weirdly fun, kind of like Holmes and Watson investigating monster rallies…

I was waiting for you to say you had a signed copy. I read the first Tarzan and thought it was enough. I did spend many a Saturday morning watching Weismuller though and tried turning back a herd of Someset cows by shouting, 'Umgowa.' Unfortunately, they didn't speak African so I had to scarper over a hedge.

Yeah I really enjoyed those movies as a kid, they were on like 8 am on Sunday mornings and just about the only thing but televangelists for kids to watch at that time! Ungowa!

I remember finding a Tarzan in a barn in upper NY State as a kid, where my father came from… said it was his, and his 3 brothers… was pretty beat up and kind of moldy but it was a lot of fun to read as I recall

I remember great disappointment as a kid on reading the first Tarzan book. I believe the conclusion takes place in Wisconsin! Little resemblance to the movies I loved, much like my initial dip into Frankenstein. Hey, what's all this? Really enjoyed the first two in the Pellucidar series. And a knockoff of The Lost World called Land That Time Forgot, one of those pocket-size Ace paperbacks I wish I'd kept.

Yeah I heard that LAND TIME FORGOT is one of the best ones, as are the later Tarzan books... Take care, Tim! s

hey scott, i loved the vid...as a kid i loved cool...now listen here Bradfield, you're taking me farther and father afield of my normal reading....first you lead me astray by reading 5 maigret books (loved them all), then revolutionary road (started it last night, and this will be the 3rd time) and now, i think im hungering for this Tarzan series (never read)...i googled, there are 33 in the 2 Tarzan series hahahah....as a kid i did read The Land That Time Forgot, The People That Time Forgot and Out of Time's Abyss, and i loved them....now, the question shall i get back to proust, and jump down the gaping whole of the tarzan books...im really tempted....this weekend im reading Yates and Fady Joudah's new poetry collection and then Brideshead Revisited....but i will go to my neighborhood used book store (as i do every saturday morning on my early morning walk) and see what ERB they have.....damn, anyway, im sorry to hear more sadness regarding Lucky...i do hope thinks will heal...ok, off to bed...stay safe SB...and give lucky a hug Scott, if she isnt too offended...cheers, bb...a....sending big hugs to Lucky too...bb
