There's something inherently satisfying about the coupling of "leave him" with "evening".

Such a good band. I find this song interesting because he’s really just addressing an ideal. The woman who he thinks he’s speaking to is actually the girl that dates an asshole and does what he wants her to do. Jarvis is an outside observer or an interloper. He wants her to be a naive victim who he can save but that’s not the reality of things. She doesn’t want his adoration. She wants to do what she’s doing. And she’s cheating on her boyfriend which actually makes her someone Jarvis should want to avoid any way if he’s smart. Jarvis really needs to check his ego because there’s a massive probability that his interest in this woman is tied to the fact that she is with someone else. That’s my analysis of this Pulp song for March 14, 2020
