Ours just experienced the lifter issue. Left us stranded in a bad spot 200+ miles from home. 6000 miles on the 6.2 engine when it went down. Towtruck driver that finally got to us, knew right away the problem. Towed three already this year. We like the truck, don't want to sell it, but don't want to get stuck like that again either. Subscribed!

Depends on the engine/compression. The owner's manual for this truck says to run 93 octane for optimal performance, acceleration, and fuel mileage. Running 93/94 octane DOES exactly that. In other cars/trucks not set up for high octane fuel...93/94 does nothing.

I keep reading that the Pulsar LT does not work on 10 speeds which is what the 2021 Trail Boss LT, 6.2 is... That's what I am getting into on Monday, also about 44K miles. But based on what I'm reading here, it does function appropriately for a 10-speed, correct? That's what your Trail Boss is, a 10-speed right?

Will the pulsar LT void factory warranty for any of these AFM DFM DOD issues if it shows up when the scan your vehicle ???
@jsbigrigdad
@jsbigrigdad 2 жыл бұрын
@@rogern5368 No, they are currently testing this on my truck. We belive that if you don't change any perameters on the truck with the Pulsar before you take it for inspection (within about 300 miles) it should pass inspection. When you change parameters such as tire size or turn off the DFM, the computer looses the emissions information is what we are thinking. Just like disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. You have to drive the vehicle for 100 - 300 miles so the computer has a log of the emissions. I just took my truck to the dealer and told them the Pulsar was on there. They told me that there is no problem with it. We work closely with our local dealer. When I bought the truck they told me there would be no warranty issues with the Pulsar being installed. That being said, we are still testing the emissions and I will post again on this page when I know for sure what we find out. Also as far is the warranty issue, if you are worried that it will be an issue, remove the Pulsar before you take it to the dealer. It isn't hard to remove it and reinstall it. It's just inconvenient.

I highly recommend the Pulsar LT. I have had it on my 2019 TB for a yr now and still very happy with it. No issues at all! It’s very easy to install, a direct plug and play, and when I take my truck in for service to the dealership just unplug, and afterwards plug it back in. It saves the settings so no programming it again. Watch out for the throttle sensitivity setting, if you set it on the highest setting your literally spinning tire, especially when it’s raining or wet. lol

The best way to disable AFM/DFM is to remove the AFM/DFM lifters. Johnson 2110R lifters and hardened pushrods from somewhere like TSP. You still have to tune it out of the ECU, though, and that gets harder and harder with the newer ECU's.

You actually don't need to disable auto start/stop if you are disabling DFM as disabling DFM automatically turns off auto start/stop. It says this in the manual; however, it will look like auto start/stop is still on when you just disable DFM because it doesn't turn the indicator light off. It does disable it though, and the switch becomes useless as pressing it does nothing, the light always stays on. Also someone asked about the limiter, Pulsar doesn't let you eliminate altogether but you can crank it up to 140 I believe.

I did a little KZbin research to see reliability, and stumbled upon this apparent common issue. What a joke. What's even funnier is the people who defend GM when it happens to them. In the past week I've seen so many comment like "my lifters went out at 15k miles. I really love the truck, I'll give it another chance.." Fucking priceless. That's like the guys who's girls always cheat on them and they know about it. "I'll give her another chance, she was just drunk and didn't know what she was doing.."🤣🤣. Thanks for the review on Pulsar LT! First off we love hearing from happy customers. Second, have you by chance ever hand calculated your mielage? In all our testing and development, we've found the computer displays aren't always accurate and didn't see quite the mileage change you've experienced. Mileage is very subjective and can vary greatly from one truck to the next, especially with so many variables.

I just ordered the pulsar LT. I've been keeping track of my fuel since day one I can tell you exactly how many gallons my Silverado has used since 2019. Here is some info on a 1989 Pontiac firebird that I had for 23 and a half years with 325,000 mi on it at the time I got rid of it back in 2012. That car consumed $30, 500.00 in gas I could add up the gallons but I have to go through all the logs. Now on My 2019 Chevy Silverado truck as of last fill-up it had consumed 1,469 gallons how fuel at a cost $5,212 and is currently averaging 16.7 miles a gallon.. not too bad for a V8 and I kind of have a lead foot.

Definitely interesting. I have a 2019 trailboss LT z71 and don’t really know if it has DFM. I know it does not have AFM as the little V4 is not present on my truck. I know this does not completely prevent the failure but i like the idea of it if it can help prevent it. I’ll be doing a little more research.

I have a 2017 Silverado 5.3L, tuned it with a Bully Dog for 87 octane. Wanted to see what the fuel efficiency was with and without the AFM. For my truck, it was worse with AFM active. Highway I can get 21-23 mpg driving around 70-75 mph average, and with AFM active I get around 18-20.

I ask because I am considering this instead of the AFM/DFM Disabler that goes into the OBD2 port in the cab and will be taking my 21' Sierra 1500 in to get the passenger side lifters replaced (driver side already replaced due to a bent lifter) in a couple of weeks. Appreciate your perspective.

I bought my truck brand new and already modified from a huge dealer that sells new lifted trucks so I know I can always drive several hours to them if needed. Not sure how “chipping” the engine would affect the warranty though. I just recently crossed 36000mi on my 2020 but I did buy the extended warranty so I definitely want to know before I risk it.

It’s my understanding, and I could be wrong, that AFM was only up to 2018. 2019-2021 vehicles were equipped with DFM. Essentially same thing different name. That being said, the failure could occur with either. The only thing I’ve been able to find is that if the truck is equipped with the AFM then you would see a little V4 pop up in your screen. DFM has no such indicator.
