I am currently making a project which includes beacons. Can a beacon output data which is currently being collected from sensors in real time? for example, if i have a person hooked up to an accelerometer to detect motion and a heart rate monitor and the motion has stopped. Can the beacon output information like the levels of motion and the heart rate? Also are beacons configured (so what they output and how often they output it) purely from a self created app? TIA

you said you can target what kind of coupons you provide to a particular customer based off their behaviour (eg: dwell in a certain isle). What confuses me is, how could you target those coupons to a particular customer without even knowing who they are? 4th point emphasizes that the beacon does not steal your data. So how do you know who exactly dwelled in that particular isle?

That's not necessary for beacons, since you only getting a signal information to try to estimate your location.

Of course the mobile device should be on :p About the app, this can work in the background or sometimes even if the app is killed. But then again. this completely depends on the app.

I think you need to have an app which listens to particular beacon ID and get notified from the beacon.

I am curious as to why you would want to do this? If you were able to turn a phone into a beacon (which I am pretty sure you could create an app to do so), the phone would most likely be moving. Are you wanting it for some type of asset tracking function, versus a beacon? Remember, beacons are "fixed" to accomplish many types of actions (Point of interest, way finding, product info, proximity locations, etc.).

Beacons cannot "transfer" a video. If you use Eddystone, it can broadcast an URL. It completely depends on the customer to tap and open this. But if you have a dedicated app, then its possible for the video to automatically pop-up provided the customers have their Bluetooth and data on
