I come from the hi-fi headphone community and seeing Audeze being purchased by Sony was a really interesting move. Gaming headsets are not particularly all that great sounding, but Audeze was the exception. It's pretty cool to see the audiophile and gaming space overlap this generation.

@@thedude8128 Where did you get the idea that the Pulse Elite has an overwhelming amount of bass? The bass is very toned down, and the headset focuses much more on accurately isolating sound. The guy in this video even said that there isn't much bass on these. If anything, I would describe it as being a little heavy on the treble. I definitely wouldn't want to use it for watching movies or listening to music because it simply isn't appropriate for that use case and clearly hasn't been designed for it. There are far better headphones out there for general use than the Pulse Elite, but for strictly gaming they are pretty competitive with other headsets/headphones in the price range and even offer some features that $200+ headsets/headphones don't (dual connectivity, planar magnetic drivers and charging via a hanger). If the product isn't for you, then that's fine! I would also prefer to use some Sennheisers, but for people shopping in the $100-150 price range, these are a completely viable option for gaming.

I love the Pulse Elite. Controlling the mute function of the headset with the controller's mute button is excellent. Holding that button also mutes all system audio, too. I recorded myself speaking simultaneously with my Pixel 7 Pro and Pulse Elite. I was standing next to a running dryer machine and you could hear it with the Pixel 7 Pro recording, but not at all with the headset. It effectively has noise canceling for the microphone. Most headsets with active noise canceling just cancel out sounds the wearer hears. The Pulse Elite is the first microphone I've ever used (and I've used many) that has noise canceling for the microphone, so people that would hear you speaking hear less background noise.

For me the ability to "watch" KZbin on my laptop while playing and being able to seamlesly switch to my PC (which I use more as a console) through Bluetooth is the main selling point. It was a long search to find headphones that filled that void (including buying a "Multipoint Bluetooth" headset only to realize it doesn't work with those and returning it. I ended up tirying of the wait for Pulse Elite and picked up Steelseries Artic Nova 7 (40€ more expensive a few months ago, though I just checked and it's actually 20€ cheaper that Elite where I live now) and I'm really happy with it. The only cons I could see it having compared to Pulse Elite is not having the Mute or volume level being visible on screen (though you can actually adjust both through the PS5) and the red light on the mic when muted through the headset is really obvious (if the mic isn't retracted).

I have a 7.1.2 Atmos set up. I’m watching because I got the original Pulse 3D headset, I use them when I’m playing late into the evening so my sub frequencies and explosions in games doesn’t disturb my partner when they are trying to sleep. I just have an issue with how dull the sound is, and how the 3D effects aren’t anywhere close (I really never expected them to be any good, so the fact it works at all is is nice) to what my home theater does for sound placement and certainly not for frequency range and clarity. This is why I’m interested in the Pulse Elite headset. Ryan’s test here leads me to believe that the Pulse Elite has the best voice clarity. The earbuds and the Sony branded headphones had clarity issues as if the Bluetooth connection wasn’t very solid, the voice had a mild stutter effect that wouldn’t sit well with with me, not that I would hear that myself, but I wouldn’t want my friends or other players to have to put up with that kind of sound if it annoys myself.

I have a 7.1.4 so I definitely understand where you're coming from. I've had the Pulse Elite for a few days now and I have not been disappointed when going from receiver to headset. The sound is really good, especially for the price, and you'll definitely notice a big step up from the Pulse 3D. Also, the 3D audio is better but pick your game wisely. There are far more games where the devs have been lazy about 3D audio support than those that have done it right. Returnal and especially Dead Space Remake are really good ones to test that on. The mic is pretty clear as well. I play Helldivers 2 with friends and family and they all said that they could tell a big difference in my mic when I switched to the Elite.

Surprised that Mystic reviewed this headset so late, I've been expecting his review. Good review, alleviated some of my concerns while I was waiting for my order (took a week in my country). So, Pulse Elite arrived today and I just finished an approx 3-hour test. I was really nervous while waiting for the delivery, almost ready to cancel with all the faults reported on reddit, in some reviews and whatnot (i.e. random disconnects, popping and high pitched sounds). To my relief my experience was positive so far and I am really happy with my purchase. As expected, the bass is kind of subdued, but in no way to the point I'd call the sound flat. Sound detail and separation is great. Went through a dozen of my favorite tracks and the music sounds all right, a bit different from what I used to, but good nonetheless. The connection was rock solid with simultaneous PS5 and phone Bluetooth. In terms of comfort: I have a somewhat larger than average head but had no problems whatsoever. I'd say with this price point it is a good and fairly unique option. If you are not a jaded audiophile and looking for a headset with good PS5 compatibility, try it out, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Resets and re-pairing seems to help for a little bit and it ends up coming back. Not to mention these things are really junky. All the weight is on the ears due to the cheap plastic. The material on my Pulse 3D started coming out from under the headphones. I pulled off the ear cups and superglued it back on. During the process I noticed that the whole thing would likely do that with enough time so I preemptively pulled it off all the way around and ran a bead of superglue on both sides. I did this to both ear cups. It’s been over a year of very heavy use and they are still holding like new, technically better than new. If anyone does this I would suggest just pulling it up a little and dabbing some superglue then hold it down with you thumbnail for a moment and keep doing this around the perimeter. The material will tear before that superglue lets loose. Once you snap the ear cups back on any mistakes you made will be completely hidden.

Still rockin my old Astro a50 gen 3 from I think 2017? Battery isn't as great as it once was but I still love how comfortable it is.

I used to wear my Pulse 3D until I bought the Inzone H7, the difference was night and day, not only the H7 has a ridiculous long battery, it is by far the most comfortable headphone/headset I ever used (and I have over 30 headphones from various brands/prices). I've been looking around and waiting for a sale on a Inzone H7 so I could have a second one, but maybe I should consider the Pulse Elite now🤔.

I do recommend the Audeze Maxwell. It is impressive, not only for games, but for everything else.

This is a great review! Thanks for the comparison of the mic and the controller being set down on the desk. That really shows that the elite is the superior in that area. Also seems like the clarity of the mic when talking was also. I had the pulse 3D before the elite and wasn’t sure what the different was for others in the other end in game n stuff. So again. Thanks. I’m loving how ya can play your own music from ya phone wile cranking out a game at the same time also! But as soon as I went to talk to someone in game I don’t think they could hear me. But maybe they just didn’t reply lol. It has randomly stopped and turned off a couple times for me also. And the in game mute mic thing doesn’t always work when I get a call. So that’s kinda weird also. But ether way I’m very impressed with the elite. Wish they had the full controls of the game to mic balance and all that stuff on the headset instead of on the console software though. But that’s ok. Not a deal breaker

It's interesting seeing how fast they integrated the tech from the Audeze acquisition. I have the Audeze Maxwells and it's a great headset I wonder how it compares to Sony's Pulse Elite given the price difference

I wish there was a blacked out version of these. I like they match the aesthetics of the ps5 but for those of us that went with the blacked out panels and controllers, just like it to be all matchie matchie 🤓

Eq settings are also important. Good headphones with poor eq set up may make good headphones sound bad, and vice versa you get the point..
@omnipotentpenguin8 ай бұрын
Very much so. I purchased some Razer Kaira Pros, and after tweaking the EQ they sound much much better than my son's Steelseries Nova 7's - a headset that before these Pulse Elites was lauded as the best in the price range.

@MrSitallewal83agreed man I’m sending mine back to and sticking with my Pulses. Even playing around with the EQ’s I just prefer the 3D sound more. The elites can be piercing and is just an uncomfortable sound imo.

I’ve been really looking forward to these. I think I’ll pick them up to replace my original pulse 3D’s. I know my mix audio has never been all that great, that battery life has dwindled so I have to charge it every other game session and the ear muffs are a little small for me, so they hurt. I also had the issue where the fabric pulled out of the plastic and I had to replace them. The table top noise canceling was really impressive and the mic quality was a huge difference

Any thoughts on PSVR2 compatibility/comfort? Great review, cheers!
@TheColdest2478 ай бұрын
As far as for the PSVR2, you first have to put on the pulse elite headset and then the VR over top of that which I found myself having to adjust my headset a little more than often but the sound was truly amazing. At the end of the day I ended up just going with the pulse explore earbuds which I didn't even think I'd like but man was I wrong once I downloaded the update and got the EQ up and running along with the correct ear tips because the ones Sony provided weren't good at all the earbuds sounded amazing. All in all I don't think you could lose either way. Also not to mention the earbuds tend to handle bass better than the headset does which was a surprise to me but I found to be true.

So… I preordered these and got them on release day, they sounded incredible and I tried A LOT of different gaming headsets wireless and wired during the years, but always fell back to wired because the sound had always been better no matter what. With these it’s the first time that they sounded WAY better, with incredible soundstage and spatial audio, but I have 2 huge problems: 1) they are not comfortable compared to other good headphones, they sit too loose on your ears, and the ear pads are just too narrow and shallow, I have normale ears and they were touching the fabric inside. 2) and that is the biggest issue, the MIC was extremely bad. Now I think it was my particular unit being faulty, because from all the videos I’ve seen and your test too, it sounds normal and pretty good for party chat, mine was really bad, muffled and it sounded like the AI was removing the first part of my words, like it’s happening in your video to with the Inzone ones. I would really like to know if it was a problem with mines only, but in the meanwhile I had to return them, I play in party chat with friends all the time and it was unbearable for them. I really hope they drop a firmware update soon or something, I’ll buy them again and give it another try.

Had the same mic problem and I was getting a bad crackling noise and cut-outs. Support just told me to reset them. Tried that about 5 times before I decided to return them.
@VegasAceVII8 ай бұрын
My microphone was the only good part of these. Mine kept disconnecting and would get stuck on mute. I returned them on day 8 of nothing but annoyance. Pulse 3D are good enough.

I own the Steelseries 7P and they sound great and are very comfortable to wear, with a long battery life. The only things I dislike are the sound of the microphone (judging from your examples it seems to be better than all of the headphones you tested though), and the static noise when changing the volume. It’s like there’s a bad connection and sometimes when you turn the volume wheel it cuts out and becomes mono, it’s very odd and disappointing. But as long as you keep the volume wheel maxed out and just control the volume through the PS5 interface it’s a nonissue.

Damn it I would like to see more reviews on this channel. I know you do big stuff like this but I mean more like game reviews and stuff like that. Be nice to see a big review for ff7 or maybe what you think of nier automata or something like that. Not slating the channel btw at all, what I do watch I really enjoy, but yeah would be nice to see.

When watching KZbin and when a video is not playing ( in the menu or paused video) the headset often makes weird noises sounding like tinnitus somewhat, or is it just me? It’s gone when videos play and it has various sounds it squeaks out when not playing any sound. It also occasionally disconnects from the ps5.

I really hope the Playstation link adapter (aka dongle) can pair with Pulse 3d headphones. Especially for those who have lost the original dongle that came with the Pulse 3D; making the headphone pretty much useless unless : / Happened to me ! Lost the dongle during a move and had to buy a brand new set.

When you put the H9 on the voice sounded choppy and tinny. Also with the PS5 headsets you can use them with the portal with nothing else but the headphones, this is huge for those with a portal.

Good review! I have also the Pulse Elite and my biggest complaint is the blue indication led when it’s on. It’s really bright and in your eyesight. Especially at night. At this moment of writing there is no option to control the led or to dim it.
