I believe you're referring to their ensemble competing in Percussion Independent Open (PIO), called Pulse Open being promoted. Indeed, Pulse Open competed in the PIW class with Pulse Percussion, but Pulse Open didn't place higher.

They're both independent groups. One used to compete in 'open' class, and the other in world. They're both in world, but I believe the former is called POW (Pulse Open World), or something to that effect. Like the other person mentioned, I don't think POW has ever come close to passing their counterparts, though both groups are super solid
