Thanks for the honest review. I know Nick has a serious romance with Velocity 2 and for him to go after this Puma means the issues are quite bad. A pity as it rains a lot where i live and so the saucony outsoles are too slippery. No issues ever with the Pumagrip.

As someone who loves his Deviate Nitro 2's I am happy to see there is no point in me getting this new iteration. Not really losing out on anything significant so when these die I will get either another pair of these or move on to something else. But these are one of the cheaper carbon plate shoes out there and while the energy return even on the 2's isn't anywhere near a Vaporfly it's still a nice daily trainer (though I don't suggest using carbon plate shoes if you run every day due to leg muscles not being used as much)

Wow! I really liked this shoe much more than the last version. I am a heavy runner and this shoe gave me the protection I need. In the Deviate Nitro 2, my hips were sore the next day from all the pounding. This is a great llong distance shoe for you heavy runners.

After hesitating, and buying the Mizuno Neo Vista, I got the DN3 yesterday. I ran 2 miles yesterday afternoon, then almost nine this morning (matching my PB on my favorite run, around a lake in a park in exurban Detroit). For me the DN2 was the closest thing to perfect I'd experienced. I felt the higher stack (not the negative for me that I thought it would be) and it wasn't quite as good a fit (with your warning, I wore thicker socks), but the DN3 was fine, better fit/spring than the Neo Vista, which are annoying to put on. I don't yet understand in which (if any) respect Puma felt the DN3 is an improvement over the DN2, but I think it's a good shoe.

Thanks for your comments as I am considering the Neo Vista and DN3. I love the DN2, just feels like the nearly perfect balance of performance and comfort.

Have absolutely loved novablast 4 for daily trainer training longer easier and can go slightly tempo and better price. Have not liked deviate nitro 2 will be avoiding the 3 after your reviews .

Thanks Nick, your recommendation is gold. I still enjoy the Velocity Nitro 2 till now. Nick, Deviate Nitro 2 vs Rebel v4, which one would you recommend?

I haven’t heard any reviewers give the DN3 a ringing endorsement, with many of them being pretty negative. It’s a shame really as I was looking forward to buying a pair. I’m sticking with the DN2 until they release the DN4, whenever that may be The DN3 Elite though is an immense shoe, absolutely love that one

There are more neutral to negative reviews on this shoe but personally I like this shoe very much and have heard of other non-reviewers enjoying this shoe. Like any shoe it’s subjective.

You can tell how good a shoe is not by what thr youtube reviewers say but by their genuine enthusiasm, this shoe is bad and a definite downgrade. I'll hold onto the DN2 or try the VN3

@@arnoldd7073 I have a friend who has the DN3 now since my original comment and he loves it. I’m still not buying it as I don’t need any shoes right now but I have saw a few more positive reviews of the shoe on KZbin as well I also now have the VN3 and it’s a great shoe. No frills but comfortable and gets the job done, it’s very versatile

Even Puma Deviate Nitro 2 is good for long runs and the amazing Puma Grip. Its not a shoe for any kind of speed training. We do need a size up because this is the only shoe in my size UK7 which hurts the smallest toe fingers after the run.UK7 size in other brands has never ever given me any issue.
