My childhood memories are flooding in lol. In my Gran Gran’s kitchen. My mother and her gave me my passion for cooking from a very young age. I remember making mango pickle with my granny aged about 6. And guava jam 🤗🤗🤗 xx

You are a star! Thanks, being in corporate most of my life I never had the time to cook our cultural food from childhood...I just went with the flow, now that I have more time on my hands, grown up children etc. I can explore childhood favourites, and these were one of them. I just made a batch now and used vanilla as you did and they were delish! Thank you FS you just don't know how you have redeemed our cultural foods...now off to teach the next generation:))

Every year I get a wonderful supply of pumpkins out of my garden. They grow out of the compost heap and it provides huge solid fleshy pumpkins. This year I harvested 24. I give to neighbours and friends and of course I keep my own supply for "pampoenkos", with roast, and the favourite in the house "Fritters" I presently have half a pumpkin in the fridge and yes! Gonna make fritters your style now now! Those bowls you spoke about, I guessing, but were they purchased at that famous institution Banks Hiring Supply? 🤔🤭

I sometimes add too much flour when I’m eye-balling 👀 then it’s no good, this is a good ratio of pumpkin-flour.

I makes mines a little similar, I add nutmeg, cinnamon, almond extract, vanilla extract, white or brown sugar and I use carnation milk, no water. I use the same recipe for banana fritters . Pumpkin fritters was my dad favorite dish to make and take to work . Anyway nice recipe ❤️🇰🇳

I want to tell you how much I appreciate you, your cooking and your recipes. You have supplied all that I needed to know. Thank you. There is nostalgia and a longing for homeland food as I am an expat living in New Zealand. Some ingredients are still hard to find. If you are familiar with samp and beans soup/stew please share your cooking version. Back in the day we called it "ma and pa".
