i adore this painting, the colors and subject are so lovely 🖤🖤 i have a couple questions regarding painting in general, 1. do you have any tips on keeping your hand from accidenally touching the paper and messing up the paint ? and 2. when people sketch something and then paint over it, it seems like you cant see the sketch anymore. how do you know where your guidelines are once you paint the base layer ? is it just from memory ? tysm 🖤

Hi there, I'm glad you like my work 😊. About your questions: 1. I don't usually rest my hand on the paper at all when I'm painting. You can practice that by painting on a small tabletop easel. It also helps train your stroke and arm movements to be more stable. 2. It depends on the scene. If it's a city scene with difficulty perspectives, you wouldn't see me painting opaquely over my sketches in the first couple layer. However for this one, the sketch is mostly for me to see if that composition works. The main pieces are the placement of the pumpkin which I didn't paint over. Other than that, the plant leaves are minor details that don't need to be exact so it didn't matter if I don't add them according to my sketch. I hope that answer your questions 😄

I love the final result! What strength of pencil did you use in the start?

Thank you! I used HB pencil. Since gouache is pretty opaque and can cover pencil sketches, don't worry too much if you use a darker pencil
