There is a instant KO window for him in both contender and title defense. For Contender: 3-Star Punch him after you blocked his wind-up headbutt attack. For TD: Star Punch him before he hits you during his knockdown animation.

Both Don fights can be won by decision. The fights that cannot are King Hippo, Bull 1 (not 2), Sandman, and Macho. Surprisingly, Tyson can lose by decision at only a 5000 point threshold.

It's determined by how many KO's you got in total to the opponent and the HP it ended on. The reason why he isn't going for 2 X's each round is because the amount X's done also determine the likelihood that they get counted down to 10 and get a win via KO.
