This quiz knocked the stuffing out of me! #4 I put a semicolon after hamster. #5 missed the apostrophe in she’s, and used a period instead of a semicolon after graduation. #6 missed the question mark, and the apostrophe in we’re. #10 missed capitalizing Let’s and the apostrophe! Is the first letter in all quotes capitalized? You would think I haven't learned a thing-but I have! Many thanks, Jennifer.

Very useful and interesting quiz! As I understood, we could answer some of these questions differently. Actually, I had a choice between a period, a comma, and a semicolon. Sometimes though, I rebuilt a sentence a little, so that it is a complex one. Thank you so much! Take care, everybody! Ten out of ten!

Thank you so much for these exercise videos. They are immensely helpful. I was wondering, would a semicolon also work to separate the two independent clauses in #4? If no, what rule must we follow for such cases?

Not sure if this lesson is for the foreign students, but I got 9/10 correct. I put a colon in #10 before the quote. Is that wrong or an ok variation? I am an American…hate to make mistakes in English. Thank you!

Great question! My uncle said: "Let's go to the cinema tonight." Yes, using a colon in this way is correct and can be used to introduce a quotation. However, it's worth noting that using a comma is more common in everyday writing. Both forms are grammatically correct. :)

IN TIMES OF WEAKNESS: When faced with adversity and temptation, ask… Was it you who said, I can't overcome self-doubt..? Was it you who said, I can't overcome physical, or illnesses..? Was it you who said, I can't overcome rejection..? Was it you who said, I can't overcome poverty and succeed in a career..? Was it you who wasn't there when I needed comforting from losing a loved one..? I'm thankful to God who gave me his son that through him; I can resist your temptation and live. written: by jerry price
