I used to tease my mother, I'd say "I seen Bill yesterday" and she's immediately say "I saw Bill yesterday!" Then I'd reply, "Oh you seen him too? He comed to the nursing home to see you?" Finally she'd realize what I was doing, smile at me and try to swat me! English can be a fun language…

Hi Lisa, I'm from London and I'm loving your channel because I'm a grammar wizard like you (getting close). When you teach us some grammar rules or even words which differ between British and US English, could you kindly highlight that for us whenever you remember, I just learned that 'afterwards' is 'afterward' and 'staff' is often accompanied by a singular verb in the US. That's only if you remember, I appreciate the fact that teachers do their best. Thank you

SO happy to have found you. I am a medical language specialist and with the speech recognition software used, it’s mostly an editing job. My biggest problem is with comma usage, but that’s another discussion. My biggest two pet peeves in current American English are the incorrect uses of “different than,” and “less” rather than “fewer”. The use of less in describing numbers of, well, anything, just drives me nuts. And the fact that no one seems to use “different from” anymore, opting instead for “different than.” So bad! Just me on a Soap Box! Thanks for listening!! 😬

I’ve been watching your videos a lot whenever I have the time. You’re one of a few best teachers on KZbin. Thanks so much Lisa! I’d love to if you could correct my grammar sentence especially at its very end following: “There’re certain things you can never be used to no matter how many (countless) times you’ve tried.” Thanks in advance.

I think the world is leading the future of English. As you see, English that was spoke during Shakespeare's time was completely different from today's English. English will continue to evolve by its speakers but not by any country or any people. New words will be created and incorporated from other languages. Old words will be removed. Spelling, pronounciation, grammar and tenses will coninue to evolve and be shaped by its speakers. Accents will be accepted or changed from its current form. So just speak and expess yourself so long as people understands you. And for those "native" english speakers open up yourself to the world and learn to be different.
