Pune - Nagpur Roadtrip | 12 hours Journey | Complete Details

Our first ever vlog on Pune Nagpur road​trip in March 21 Covid lockdown. Total KMs covered were 713 Kms in 12 hours.

There are plenty of petrol pumps on this route of all the leading OMCs (HP, IOCL, BP).
- Travel Date: 13 March 2021
- We started at 5.40 am from Pune
- Crossed Aurangabad at 9 am (235 Kms)
- Took 2-3 short breaks (15 mins max) in the entire journey
- Reached Nagpur at 5.40 pm (Total 713 Kms)
- Total tolls were 3 & the total amount charged was INR 200. All tolls were after crossing Karanja only, before that there were tolls but free for private cars.
- Fuel consumed: 38 litres, Avg: 19 Km/L
- Car: Maruti Dzire

It took me 13 hours from NIBM Kodndhwa to Nagpur. Take good sleep & start early in the morning. Don't take too many unnecessary breaks. Do not enter Jalna town. take bypass. There is a very good restaurant near Mehkar (Outer) named Parivar.

Single road is from Jalna till Karanja (~200kms). Try to travel in daylight only as single road will be very risky in the night.

Great! 12hrs is I have done 3 trips from Pune - Nagpur -Pune last year in June, July and Nov2020 and Jan2021. Road condition from Jalna - Sindkhed-Karanja was worst during Nov20-Jan21. Almost 200kms road was bad(large potholes). It took minimum 13hrs to max 16hrs for all three trips. Planning next trip in Nov2021. Waiting for Samruddhi Mahamarg now. hoping to reduce the travel time to 10 hrs in upcoming trip. Though Pune - Aurangabad(upto Samruddhi Mahamarg Interchange) will be same experience as now. But from Aurangabad- Nagpur will be definitely a much great experience and will save lot of time via Samruddhi Mahamarg. Happy travelling!!

We are frequently traveling to Nagpur from Aurangabad and every journey of ours is enjoyable. Thanks for sharing your travel experience. The route preferred by you is the best one, however, we also travel through Chikhali, Khamgaon, Akola, Daryapur, Amrawati route. With Samrudhi Road is operative, the travel to Nagpur would be more thrilling, fast and within 5 to 5:30 hrs time.

Samrudhhi Mahamarg is still under construction. We did not took Akola route; we followed Jalna > Karanja > Amravati > Nagpur. The road after Karanja was good.

Hi I drive long distance since 20 years.Earlier it was 500 km/day.Now it is 1000 Km/day due to good roads.I service my car with dealer before every trip.We pack water and home made food and don't stop at roadside dhaba as they are unhygienic sometime.It saves time.We start with full tank and fill it again at half.Better keep AC ON all time.Keep light music ON.Your copassenger will fall asleep.Tie her/him with seat belt compulsory. DON'T eat curd.You may take special chai on roadside dhaba if necessary and nothing else.Drive carefully and comfortably.

I also did Pune to Shegaon near Khamgaon way back in 2001 with my the then brand new but basic non-ac 4 gear tiny Maruti 800 in just 10 hrs with my wife & two kids (8 yrs & 10 yrs) having narrow roads!! That also without any problem! & I was the only driver

We haven't travelled through Wardha route but have heard that route is not so good as Amravati route. Amravati to Nagpur road is butter smooth & is easy to drive in dark as well (guided by reflectors). Hope this helps.

Not at all. We have been driving this car from past 3+ years & have not faced any issues. PS: We are not quoting any of the basic known maruti issues like lightweight body, less effective AC, etc.

How is the road from jalna omwards till karanja....in feb 2018 when I had gone on this trip....a lot of road work was going on from jalna to Karanja...just trying to understand that has the road condition is the same or has changed !!

Jalna to Karanja road was okayish, it is doesn't have any divider so speed will limit. Also, there were small bad patches in between, which were again being repaired.

In next time road trip please drive the car in middle of the road. Please do not stuck to the lanes, this is India, anything can comes for the side ways specially right side and you will not get enough time to react and to handle the car. I suggest to you to follow the route that we took, the route you mentioned will be a bit long. 9 hrs is very very tough, it would be risking your safety too which is not at all advised!
