Indeed Marc, you don't get enough credit for all the work that goes into the show. The majority are grateful. I have to agree with Dave when it comes to gain. Most problems I have with my guitar sound are almost always solved by turning down the gain.

Great news about the IR-D. You have a great path ahead with this concept. I have a Synergy BE-BB module along several others (SLO, Engl, ..) that I integrate to my home made amps with a Syn1.. It would be great if Synergy released a Syn1-IR with the same power amp sim/IR tech as your pedals...

@5:00 Marc, I had a similar experience with a PRS minion at the NAMM show booth many years ago. This was before they started making lefties. I asked him if there were plans to make some models available left-handed in the future. He arrogantly turned his head away from me, pointed his nose upwards and said "nope". I then responded with, "if anyone ever asks me if they should buy a PRS , I will also respond with "nope". I looked at his face and he turned about 10 shades of red. A year or two later, at a lefty guitar store in Pasadena that was owned by a guy named Scott (can't recall his last name) was the very first lefty PRS made. I actually got to play it and was not impressed at all. I think PRS is overrated and overpriced. There are lots of great guitars out there from builders that are not trying to be the next great American guitar brand that is mentioned in the same breath as Fender and Gibson like PRS has been desperately trying to do for years.

I'm watching the recording now, couldn't catch it live, and I can't believe no one asked anything about Sykes amps after Dave mentioned he has em. One could assume Sykes is having his amps serviced because he's going out the cave again? Anybody has any news about him? Can you imagine having Sykes on the show?!

@tone-talk I asked the question about how modelers work and would love if you had a guest from Fractal or some such company. I understand the pro tube amp sentiment - I personally can't use a modeller because my sound is based on manipulating tube amp compression - but this stuff is impressive and future players surely will live in the digital domain for the most part. Appreciate the show!

SD~1 sounds great as does the tube screamer the sd has a bit more bite but it cuts a good amount of low end especially if you have a Marshall. Honestly I like the mxr Wylde over drive it’s a Combo of the screamer and sd-1 and no low end loss.

I’d love to see someone from Fractal on! And on the topic of Randy Rhoads, I thought his studio tone was god awful. I think they just engineered it to death with the triple tracking and room sound. However, I thought his live tone on the Mr. Crowley EP and Tribute were both cookin’!

The talk at the start about left handed guitars hit home. I remember when I first started high school years ago and I signed up for music class because I thought learning guitar would be something to do. I am left handed so I picked up one of the left handed guitars they had for students to use and everything about it felt 100% wrong. It was extremely uncomfortable. So I picked up a righty and everything felt right with the world after that. To this day the only lefty thing I do is writing.

As part of Friedman world domination, wonder if Dave would ever put out a small power amp for home users to use the IR-X and IR-D into a cab. Would be cool to have 1x12 combo that is fronted by those units. Then you would have the best of all worlds, IMHO. I know there is Synergy, but thinking more towards the home hobbyist that doesn't play out or in a band, but just wants versatility for home use.

Had to comment here, great show , love the info. Neither of you are wrong, Randys' tone isn't the greatest by far actually, imagine him through something like a mesa mark series, but somehow he made it work , the chip pan, . However, just for the record. nobody can touch the Randy Rhoads/Ozzy combination. Those compositions are unequaled in his entire catalog. Key word being composition. Can you tell I'm biased ? lol. cheers

It is funny the Dave vs Sammy debate. This is why I like bands based on the music, not what they are like as people. Many fantastic musicians are terrible people so I don't hero worship. I either like the music or I don't.

Great show! JEL was the best Ozzy guitarist, but I’ve always wondered what George Lynch would’ve done with Ozzy. Jake was way different than Randy and I agree, Randy didn’t have great tone at all. His playing made up for the funky tone.
