The overall performance of the ECU is not exactly what we have expected. So we went and Dynoed the bike at RICKY'S Garage.
First we Dynoed the bike with stock copler which comes with the PowerTronic ECU. To use the PowerTronic ECU we have to fit some extra wiring which comes with the kit. But, if you want to run bike with the original ECU mapping all you have to do is swap out the performance ECU with the Stock coupler which comes with the kit. This way to use the PowerTronic ECU you don't have to change the wiring onces you have fitted the ones that comes with the kit. Just swapping the ECU with stock coupler will do the job.
Well, the power figure with the stock mapping is just 14.1hp. This is slightly lower than expected, as the bike is performing weakly these past few weeks.. Well, what do you know.. the stock filter is gunged up with dirt and oil.. the bike has done just 6000km.. didn't expect this.. after swapping out the stock filter with BMC performance filter.. power jumps up to 14.5. Mind you.. a jump of .4 Hp is a big deal as all this is rear wheel power. The company claimed figures are all crankshaft power output which is usually 12 - 15% more than rear wheel power, and they usually claimed a much higher power figure than actual.
When we Dynoed with the PowerTronic ECU map 2 ( comes with 2 maps, map 2 is the higher gain mapping) power jumps up to 14.7hp and max torque up to 11.6Nm .. which is up .5Nm.
Then the tuner put his custom mapping ( which can be burned in the ECU) the final power figure jumps up to 15.1 Hp and max torque of 11.7Nm.
This figure might be higher if we have Dynoed the bike with a higher quality fuel ( as the one's on the tank is a bad batch from the pump) and the 150 section rear tyre we have fitted will also rob a few points no doubt.
But, overall we are pretty happy with the new mapping as the slight gain in power figures converts to really big jumps in real time performance on the road. We have also added a performance rear sprocket with one+ tooth which cuts down the top speed a bit but, gives a better torque spread.
