Cnoddings follow up video from Chicago is what gave me red flags about this marker. He broke his marker down and had issues with the eyes. He said that he still broke paint after switching to the smaller oring. He also said his teammate who had the MXR had the same problems. Hats off to PunishersPB for a video to address concerns from the consumers.I think I’ll wait for the MXR+ 🤣

@@CriticalGMR For sure. I like that the eye pipe is better material but i'm not sold on the oring detents. Also, the whole point of the eye pipe was to stop paint from blocking the eyes. The thing has two holes in it. Maybe explains why Cnoddings had eye problems. I felt the MXR and the ergos are very nice.

Did the same damn thing, and its funny how they left it off the 20 year of dye markers. DYE made another marker in support of Planet Eclipse making $1600+ markers ready to go vs a DYE 2nd marker release with issues

I can't understand why they would use a oring as a detent. Every other company and including their old detents work fine. They could of went with the aluminum eye pipe with their old detent and been fine. But typical Dye

This is why I decided years ago to just go with PE as a primary (can still grab other brands for collection) -- less maintenance (double the number of o-rings on other brand bolts, etc.), better reliability, and fewer quirks and issues.

When the marker was released Billy Wing went live and said that you can change the oring depending on what size paint you have. I believe he said all the pro players using the MXR was use the 16 oring

It’s too bad I really like the look of the MXR and a lot of improvements I wanted to see have been implemented over what the M3+ had. But damn it has to be able to shoot properly. I may still pick up one but probably after Dye acknowledges the issues and has fixes.

R5 had loader issues and an o-ring inside the bolt that comes loose too.

The r5 didn't have loader issues. Th loaders were having issues with how well the r5 was made. Virtue came out with the fix, not PE

@@austink4712 the loaders received an update so that they could work with the R5. Those loaders never had a problem on any other marker. Something about the R5 caused slow fire rates. Maybe it was too soft or 🤷‍♂️

Ramp sustain reminds me of the OG vapor and the ape board. Loved my Vapor but I also shot it with a Ego 11 Virtue board. Bought a DLS. Will definitely be skipping this.

It seems like to me there is a delay with the eyes. This could be where the ball isnt quite settled in the breach. And everyone is moaning but ALL guns have issues. Ive had eclipse, empire and dlx guns do the same thing when ramping straight out the box.

Ugh, I’m a huge Dye fan, run two m3+ and they’re absolute work horses and I love the way they shoot. I still think the mxr is ultimately going to be a great gun. It’s true that other manufacturers have had issues on their releases but Dye could’ve used a clean launch. The r2 forcing double feeds isn’t an issue because who uses an r2 at this point besides sponsored teams? If they can fix the ramp logic quickly and it feeds fine with a spire/cntrl then hopefully it’ll be good to go.

@@k3mikal, I was’t saying it was backed by a peer reviewed study, lol. I just don’t know why anybody would use an R2 unless they were sponsored, it doesn’t make sense to me. Everybody knows they jam, the free flow internals slow the loader down to less than Ctrl 2 speeds and it still jams. Sure a marker should work with every loader especially the one the marker manufacturer also makes but here we are. Personally I’m sticking with my m3+. They both run great, see no reason to switch.

I personally agree I think the gun is great and honestly a simple software update could easily fix the ramp thing. I play in semi so it's a none issue for me but I definitely think it's a simple fix and people need to chill and stop comparing it to the DLS.

The geo r5 had issues with certain loaders, any new marker has some sort of issue on release. This was a valuable video since I'm interested in the mxr. Can you do a video of the o ring that you can put on the bolt that slows it down and make the marker smoother?

It was due spire v/ctrl2 timing issue with its coding; brought to light in some of them when using r5. It was not a fault of the r5; just occurred as a bad combo between the slowed forward stroke of the bolt and a mistiming in the loader. Different than dyes [possible] quality control problems.

The ORing will swell and become more flexible when grease comes in contact with it, a plastic detent might be better, I thought the acrylic eye pipe just needed metal reinforcement.

The price of the lowest MXR is a DSR+ + IM kit + UL-I kit with 3 Pwr inserts, but unless you are in D1 D2 or in pro division I don't think a MXR will be worth it at this stage. Or keep your dsr+ as a spare one for the time.

Whole idea behind the eyepipe system was to protect the eyes fom paint ingress if a ball broke. Now they made a metal one but drilled holes in the pipe exposing the eye !!

After the DLS I sure as hell would not trust Dye for a long time. Let some people be the test dummies and see what it looks like after 6 plus months. At this point I'd gladly take a DLX marker and clearly a Planet one far over any DYE one. It's sad, this is what happens when you don't have long enough testing on them. I'd much rather you take time and have months of testing vs rushing. My 2 cents.

The DLS was not a little issue it was a complete catastrophe for the majority of owners. I think the excessive hate is due to that main reason. The R5 had a loader issue but was quickly resolved by Virtue. The LV2 was quickly addressed by planet. Mind you nothing to do with paint handling. If you can’t shoot paint than it’s a paper weight. Paint handling is #1 on the list when it comes down to a tournament paintball marker. The MXR should be able to handle GI 5 star paint.

Out of curiosity, for anyone who has an MXR can you check the stock ramp settings to make sure they're correct? If not can you try to create a custom profile and set the ramp settings up as they should be to compare? I don't know if that's possible with the MSR or not.........most guns you can do something like this. My logic is that if you create your own ramp settings that are NXL compatible and it suddenly works then it's a software issue for sure. Perhaps testing in any other ramp settings the board has available may also help.

Crazy how all these new guns are such junk that lose 50% of their value after less than a year of use and have all these issues. Yea. People need to hold Dye to a higher standard here. There is a reason PE markers have the rep they do. Every single PE marker is tested before being shipped. Why doesn't Dye do this? If we are paying the same cost for the highest end marker they offer, why do we settle for less? How these got through beta testing without ANYONE noticing the ramping issues is just crazy. They had to of known about this ahead of time and should of had a software update ready for day 1. Nobody cares that there is an board/software issue --- the problem is how Dye and their reps handled it by gaslighting customers.
