In this video I play a rapid chess game against fellow Twitch Streamer vengaard_live ( / vengaard ) who is a relatively new to chess- only been playing for ~3 months! In the game, I unleash the Ponziani Opening and proceed to show no mercy. I hope this game provides some instructional value when it comes to exploiting common beginner mistakes and using basic tactics to seize the advantage. Towards the end of the game (once I achieved a decisive material advantage) I put more of my focus towards answering various questions from the Twitch Chat. After the game, I provide some basic tips and advice and show how black could have improve the opening play against the Ponziani.

Stalin used this strategy to win world war 2
@JunkBondTrader
@JunkBondTrader 2 жыл бұрын
@@randomname5580 His commanders did, and it was relatively easy to mop up what was left of the German army by then. Stalin was an infamously horrible tactician. Cos the Russians had 10 million soldiers, he just sent in relentless waves of men until they overwhelmed the Germans, which is why Germans killed like 2 Russians for every German. It was near the end, when Stalin let his commanders take charged (something Hitler was too dumb to do), when they cleaned up the rest of the German army. Stalin's roll in winning the war was much lesser than Britain and USA in my opinion. With his army size, it'd be crazy if USSR failed their final missions.

Even better than "Wooden Shield" is "Botez gambit". For those who do not know, wooden shield doesn't mean anything specific. One amateur player said it and now it has caught on as a meme. Look up XQC wooden shield for explanation. Botez Gambit means a high level player blundering a queen.

"He said he's only been playing for three months. Still, I'm gonna show no mercy, but I'll try to be instructive." That's the difference between a good teacher and a great one. Eric knows that going easy on someone is not how you help them get better, but he's also not going to be a jerk about crushing them. You give 'em all you've got, and then you teach them what they did wrong afterwards. Just one of the many reasons that I personally think that Rosen is one of the absolute best chess coaches teaching and playing today. Thanks for all your hard work and the great content! 👏👏👏

20:18 GG. My favorite chess story from about 2005 or so. Two guys on a chess site didn’t care for each other. One of them complained and had in game chat shut off for other player. There was a glitch at end of game and the silenced player was able to text “GG” All Hell broke loose in the forum! “I was personally attacked again after I had comments silenced for a certain player! Player was able to send message when they won!!!” Only a week later did everyone find out that sinister Attack Message was just... GG. It became the new forum attack for any debate. “GG!” Good times.

I'm currently reading Nimzowitsch book, My system, and while I'm only at the very beginning of the book it already helped me tremendously, and I can testify of that because my level already improved but also because I can comprehend a little better games played by some experimented in chess such as this one, keeping a strong center control and pressured, moving a piece to the right square to win a tempo or some tempi, prophylaxis, liquidation, freeing moves... I'm pretty sure by the end of the book I will be way better. And I strongly advise for people who want to be better at chess to study extensively chess principles, and to not restrict yourself to learning opening lines, tactics and endgame theory. This is necessary, but the most obscure middlegame and studying the whole breadth and depth of chess principles, especially if you think you know them, is the key to a better understanding of chess, not only a better understanding of the game as such but rather an improved vision of the art of chess. Nice video Eric, thanks.

Just wondering, at 10:00 wouldn’t ng6 be the best move because if he takes the knight u can take the queen with ur bishop. If he takes the bishop u can take the queen with ur knight. And if he runs away with the queen u can take the rook at h8? I’m a beginner just trying to learn more
@andresfontalvo17
@andresfontalvo17 3 жыл бұрын
I think they're both winning and the choice is more a matter of style. In your line black gets two pieces for the queen which is roughly the same as winning one piece, which he accomplished at the beginning of his chosen line, only his queen was more active after taking in e6. Hope that helps
@ryanchan7630
@ryanchan7630 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think so, if you played Ng6, black plays Qd5 Nh8, black takes hanging bishop on B5 and your knight is not in a good position at H8.

Just wanted to comment on the move 13. Nxg7+ Had black responded with Kb8, the rook would have been safe and white would drop both knight and bishop, which equalizes the pieces +-pawns.
