In this video, I play the Ponziani Opening against a beginner level Twitch subscriber. I showed no mercy, and my opponent walked into one of the most common Ponziani Traps. After the game, I provided some additional advice and tips when it comes to playing the Ponziani Opening.

"He always seemed such a nice, soft-spoken young man. Very polite and considerate. Who would have thought that under that gentle exterior lurked such a violent, deadly demeanor. It always seems to be the quiet ones, doesn't it?", he asked as he replaced the King on the waiting square. "Indeed, my dear old chap. If he had only stayed one move ahead of you in the real world, rather than the world of the 64 squares, he might have slipped your trap!" "Lady Anne should have chosen a less unworldly partner for her financial scheming....Well, too bad for 'Ponzi-Annie'! Come, Whatsumb, let us seek sustenance in the local pubs." And so, this adventure came to a quick and timely ending.

Hey Eric how does one become a GM I mean you’ve beat loads of other GM’s and you’ve even beat Magnus Carlson before! So how come your not a GM?

You need 3 GM norms and an elo rating over 2500 (for tournaments, not online). You can check Wikipedia if you want more details.

Came across you yesterday. Great video. You run it through at the perfect pace. I love just started playing and after I saw your Stafford gambit I got “inspired” and won quite a few games not by exactly playing the opening but through the fundamentals of the attack. Another great video on the Ponziani. Please keep walking through opening gambits and traps as you explain them very logically. Cheers
