My hometown Guwahati boasted of a great reading culture both in English as well as vernacular languages. Growing up there were nice bookstores around town. We used to look forward to the annual book fair every year ….sadly most of the bookstores now just stock textbooks and guides for competitive exams. No one reads for pleasure anymore.
