From what i've seen, most works with stories that use/abuse single villain this way that SF does are reduced to shallow cartoon universes. Even some cartoons do a better job. And there's even the notable fact that action animes that have different main villains in each arc makes their narrative automatically more dense and mature than most cartoons, even if that anime isnt really dense and mature itself. It's an effect of constrast. I felt that difference in my first animes and i believe many felt it too. But SF devs just dont want to try doing something like that.

I was 14 in '92 when Bison appeared and it's been 32 years and we're basically stuck on the same characters... I can understand Ryu, Ken and Chun Li as the main protagonists to be present in MOST of the games but having an endless run of games featuring Akuma, Bison, Honda, Dhalsim... *yawn* Where is the SF3 producer he was the only one willing to gamble for freshness and actually stuck gold... then again being 46 I am no longer target audience for video games time is running out in real life must make the most out of it besides watching an occasional YT clip

I think Akuma is totally acceptable because there is potential to use him to advance the story of Ryu and evolve his own moveset, like SF6 did. But to me Bison, Honda, Blanka and few others have no place in SF sequels. Honda and Blanka in special are not even good chars in any single aspect, they are carried by their status of "SF2 veterans". Since a long time i believe it would have been better if SF2 used Gen and Birdie from SF1 instead. And Dhalsim also has little reason to stay in SF sequels... but at least he has a very unique and moveset in his favor, that makes him minimally justified to stay in the games. But Honda and Blanka are a ridiculous case of being carried by their status for 30+ years long, and stealing roster slots that could have been given to much more interesting chars.

They should have a winter 2024 or summer/autumn 2025 release character. Possibly going from October 24 to April 25 (6months) without a character release is insane. Then possibly also going from April 25 to December 25 (8months) without a character release is even crazier. That would mean in almost a whole years+ worth of time (october 2024-December 2025) Elena would be the only new character release.
