Thanks! Yah I didn’t realize there was an event that night. Place was packed. I’m way happier with the Osmo Pocket 3. Didn’t buy it for ride videos, but after seeing how much better it is at night than the GoPro and Insta360, I just might make more nighttime videos 😃.

Wow! That's so cool to see so many of my regular cruising spots, even the parking garage, haha. ...must be a scooter guy thing. 5:00 Love the dude power sliding right in front of you. With me they usually wait until I'm about to pass on the left and then pull that move. Kids. This makes me want to go for a night ride down there now. Last time I was down there at night for 4th of July but there were tons of people.

Yah I didn’t realize they had an event going on. Lots of people and tons of rental scooters haha. Thankfully he did his power slide well ahead of me. That night I thought for sure I would be involved in my first scooter on scooter collision lol.

@@tomsgadgetgarage HAHAHA!!!!!! That's funny. :D It's always kind of surprising to me how much less situational awareness others seem to exercise, when the penalty for getting it wrong could be relatively steep. I mean people break their wrists, arms and heads all the time on various set of wheels in public. It sucks getting older but as least there's the trade off of some wisdom that comes with it.

That’s awesome! You definitely stood out from the rental scooter crowd. Place was absolutely packed. Those are all sick scooters. We may have been the only ones wearing helmets that night haha. How are you liking the Nami Max 2?

Haha! That’s crazy. Yah in Tempe they are all over the place. Instead of trash on the streets/sidewalks you have rental scooters thrown all over the place 🤣

Great video btw and I really like your Punk Rider Pro for the sum of pro's. For a long term scooter I'm more of a coil spring with shocks guys, mainly due to the simplicity of that design and aftermarket hacks. Whereas I don't worry too much about future parts availability with a company like Apollo or Niu (for example) I don't necessarily trust that less mature companies will always have suspension cartridges. I've seen that VMAX has had some examples of cartridge issues with the VX4 and a few people have had trouble getting replacements. Thanks for the fun video!

Good video. Question, what's the real range on this scooter? I know it's only an 18.2ah battery, but Punk uses the much better 21700 cells. Thanks.

Thank you! I made a range test video here which will give you a good idea of how it performs throughout its battery range. I was able to get 36 miles in real world range in speed mode 2 weighing about 200lbs. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5Stq2Wdh7mpiq8

@@tomsgadgetgarage Not bad at all & very impressive. I saw on Punk's website they are selling refurbished ones for a damn good price. Ordering the Rider Pro today for $1150. Thanks again and keep the videos coming.

I've really been enjoying your review of the Punk Rider Pro, Tom. The PRP is the scooter that I might pull the trigger on next month, but I wanted to ask you a question before I buy it...or any other scooter, actually. *Is there a place in the Phoenix metro area (Mesa, Gilbert, Tempe, Chandler, etc.) that you can recommend that does service on electric scooters?* Not being able to keep my scooter serviced and safely operating, has been the biggest reason why I've yet to buy an electric scooter.

Thank you! So I personally have no experience with scooter repair shops in the valley. With scooters, your biggest maintenance items are going to be the brakes and some occasional lubrication of bearings. Punk Electric stocks what appears to be every component for the scooter. I have taken the main scooter body apart and it’s pretty simple under the hood. Everything uses connectors, so if any component were to fail, it’s literally plug and play. The bottom plate is removed with a handful for screws. When that plate/cover is removed, there’s a long rectangular electronics box that houses the battery and two motor controllers. That box is closed with some screws and silicone sealant.

My Punk Rider has been giving me trouble right from the start. First, I had to replace the tires, then the bell, which wasn't working. Next, the brakes started getting stuck. After that, my indicators stopped working. The rubber foot mat at the back came off, and then all my lights, including the brake lights, stopped working. While riding, the front motor started making strange sounds, and the brakes began slamming on, almost causing me to fall off. When I got home, I discovered that the bolts holding the waterproof seal were loose, and my scooter was filled with water and rusting. Since it has no warranty and has done 2000 km, I'll have to pay for all the repairs, even though it's not my fault. The manufacturer advertises it as weatherproof and waterproof, but when I contacted them, they said it's only IPX6 and not fully waterproof. I definitely wouldn't recommend this scooter to anyone due to all the problems I've had.

Always great to hear feedback from others. When you say your brakes get stuck, are you referring to the brake levers getting stuck or something with the actual drum unit in the wheel hubs? Yah IPX6 means it can withstand high pressure water jets, usually for something like 3 minutes. It will not withstand immersion in water. For immersion, you’d need to go to at least IPX7. If the body was filled with water, that probably explains the lights going out (if the water issue came before the lights). My full review of this scooter will be ready in a few weeks. I usually don’t post reviews until I’ve ridden at least 400-500km. Also, under what conditions are you finding the brakes slamming on? Is it when you’re riding near top speed and you slightly pull the brake lever and all the sudden is brakes really hard?
@noahallen227
@noahallen227 3 ай бұрын
@@tomsgadgetgarageThe brakes were always acting strangely and rust was coming out of them it was a problem inside the drum. The regenerative brakes were slamming on because the controller or front motor is faulty due to water getting inside. I never submerged my scooter in water it was simply riding around in the rain. The water got in because the screws inside the scooter were too loose - I could undo them with my fingers.
